Do We Really Still Need Screen Protectors?

I don't have one on mine and honestly just think having one just takes away from how your fingers supposed to flow and Interact with the phone. In other words, it worsens the experience.

Who else going with no screen protector?

Get a glads screen protector. It won't give you the cheap look or feeling when using or looking at the screen

No screen protector on mine. I just sold my S8 and it was in mint condition. Not a single micro scratch or anything.

If it scratches or breaks I'll pay the $99 deductible. Done wasting money on screen protectors.

I have applied a liquid screen protector from QMadix, also comes with a 250 dollar screen replacement guarantee, anyone else tried this.

I installed the Spigen Neo Flex on my Note even before I turned it on for the first time, it went on ok but as with most screen protectors it's never going to feel the same, always going to be a slight resistance with the pen.
So today, after thinking about it for a few days, I removed it and wow, what a difference!

As I had not actually used the phone without a protector before the difference is night and day!

.... And that's why you need a Whitestone Dome Glass in your life.... It feels just the same as the naked screen if not better

I haven't used a screen protector since the 4S.

Never was a big fan of screen protectors but I notice small scratches on my S7 edge after a year, So I put a liquid one on this. Very smooth ,I like this. But I will have to wait and see if it works. Made by Invisible First Defense.

Whitestone Dome Glass while expensive and somewhat complicated is totally worth it.... This actually feels BETTER than the naked glass.

I concur with this statement. I went through about 5 tempered glass protectors and they all sucked - waste of money. Then I discovered the Whitestone Dome - and I've never been happier. Sensitivity is great, protects the whole screen, keeps fingerprints away. I have a very thin 0.3mm case (Anccer Gravel Black) on which provides better grip and it's matte, so no fingerprints. Before I got the protector and the case, the phone was a fingerprint magnet, and so slippery.

Which insurance do you have that only has a $99 deductible?

Here's the link for installation instructions. It's expensive, but we have a $1000 phone. You put it on once and you won't need others - it's that good! (Unless you drop the phone, but then you'll be replacing a protector, not the screen that costs at least $300 to replace).
I'm not affiliated with the seller, just a very happy customer (as are others who use it)

It just seems so damn complicated to install. I feel like I'd blow the installation for sure.

Just watch the video, take your time, and it takes 10 minutes. I first installed it on note 8, and then on a friend's s8+. Nothing beats this protector. Tip: after you get the 1st one, don't throw out the UV lamp. You can get everything but the lamp if you need another protector $10 cheaper on Amazon

Have these gotten any better since they released for the s8 and s8+? I had one on the S8 and after being in the sun for a couple hours, the glue started to release and gum up causing the screen protector to come off. Others were having issues if the phone heated up releasing the glue. There were a ton of complaints about these on xda.

Well, it's not hot now in NYC, so I'm unsure about the heat. I tried this: I had an extra glue bottle from the original installation, so I decided to buy a regular tempered glass protector that attach on the sides only, and use the extra glue to try attach it like the Whitestone Dome. After using the UV light, the glue turned hard like a rock. It didn't work (the glass wasn't as precise as the Whitestone, had bubbles and didn't attach throughout the length of the screen) so I had to remove this protector, but it was stuck so well that it took some effort to remove. I don't see it getting soft with heat. I think the way it works is the glue kind of melts the glass and it becomes sort of part of the screen, if that makes sense.
Also, Whitestone has a warranty where they replace the protectors if it's not a buyer's fault. Protector coming off due to reasonable heat isn't customer's fault, and I think would be covered by warranty.
