I have the S7, it's in the water a few times a month. I used to worry about rain, not an issue now. My S7 has been submerged in a stream, it's been submerged in a lake off the side of the dock while filming fish. I no longer worry about it being near the shower for music, or it getting damaged when I work out.
I worked for Verizon, I've seen phones ruined from accidents near the pool, getting wet while remaining on a boat, drinks spilt on them, dropped in the toilet, left outside when it rained, sweat while working out and steam from a hot shower ruin phones.
Personally never water damaged a phone myself, but now I don't need to worry. I've even washed mine in the kitchen sink a few times to clean it. Only issue is the loud speaker gets distorted if filled with water, but it dries and works fine.
