Do you keep your display on Auto Brightness?

Do you keep your display on auto brightness?

I have mine turned off and keep mine at a little less than 50%

Would my battery life be better leaving it on auto brightness?

I keep mine on auto and it seems to pick a decent level given the conditions it's in.
Not sure how the Average sum throughout the day would compare to a fixed value.
I suspect if you're outdoors a lot or in bright areas mostly, 50% might be more efficient.

I always use auto brightness. I have with every phone I've ever owned. It's probably more efficient to leave it that way unless you're outdoors. Auto will crank it up outside. If you can see screen outside at 50 percent then go for it. For indoors, auto probably will be more efficient

I heard on some reviews that Auto brightness on at all times keeps the sensor on and might actually hurt battery life... not how true that is, or if it shortens the lifespan of the sensor.

Nope. I keep my brightness at 30%. If I am in bright sunlight, I can crank. With the GS8, the 30% setting is adequate for when I am in the car. I haven't had an opportunity to try it bright sunlight yet. At night with the blue light filter, it's just fine at night.

Auto brightness with all my phones. Works great for me and don't have to bother adjusting.

Always used max brightness and set to auto brightness as well. Get about 14-15 hours of solid use. Loving that the display of my S8+ is as bright if not brighter than my Note 7 about 1000 nits. Noticeably brighter than my S7 Edge.

I use auto brightness and love this feature!

I get roughly 5 hours screen on time with 30% battery left over using auto brightness feature.

Auto brightness has really improves. You can still adjust the brightness level within auto brightness, and it will remember correlated settings.

You can adjust the brightness level within auto brightness.

Not sure if it works, I can't tell but doesn't it save battery life if its off? Either way I stop using it.

Without actual empirical data, it is hard to determine what impact it has. As for me, I keep it on auto.

On older devices (think 5 years ago or more) auto brightness did impact battery life. Saving battery ment adjusting yourself. But any phone I've had in the last 4 years or so I never noticed a difference . Perhaps the sensors have gotten more efficient. I wouldn't worry about it. If auto brightness does use more battery I doubt you'd notice it.

If the phone gets hit by direct sunlight while on auto brightness you'll get a brightness about 50% brighter than you can get by moving the slider all the way to the right. It makes the phone very readable outdoors. So, for that reason alone I leave it on auto brightness.

Yeah. The phones true max brightness can't be manually set. Only in auto mode will it go there. While in direct sunlight outside manually set it as high as it'll go. Then set it to auto . Difference is huge.

I prefer to keep my brightness setting at just below 50%.

Auto Brightness is a good tool but I don't always agree with it that the setting should in some circumstances go to 100% thus draining battery. I leave auto brightness turned Off.

I much prefer to use the slider as and when I feel the lighting conditions dictate
