Do you prefer a physical or virtual home button?

Physical. I like the extra screen realistate given with a physical button.

^^^What she said. It's also nice to have the home button remain stationary, instead of repositioning when the screen autorotates. I find the center bottom position of the virtual home button somewhat inconvenient when in landscape.

I like the home and capacitive buttons on my S3. They are always in the same spot. When I need to see my menu, I always knkw where to go. The onscreen menu button in apps is reminding me of iOS.

There is something nice about physical buttons. My old HTC desire had real buttons and I still miss them. On screen buttons can get lost at times. My Samsung Galaxy S2 was horrible because the buttons would disappear when your screen was still on. My Nexus 4 is okay but I don't like that I lose screen real estate.

I prefer physical and/or capacitive buttons as they're always in the same location making it easy to instantly know the orientation of the device. Also since they're always in the same location it re-enforces muscle memory (where your fingers intuitively know where they are). They also don't take up any screen real estate. Finally, a physical home button also allows you to wake up the device, instead of only the power button.

I definitely prefer a physical home button. After some time with the Nexus 4 I thought I had changed my preference to virtual but after picking up the GS4 I can tell you physical is the best to me. The biggest advantage to the physical home button is the ability to wake up my phone without having to hit the side power button. It's much easier when I have my phone next to my keyboard at work and I am trying not to be so obvious that I am using my phone:)
