Some would rather you not post information like that. Yes indeed, you have an issue and I suspect there are many many out there just like you that never post on the forums and simply return the phone.
 
Speaking for myself I had real issues with signal on the GN I live in a area that's not got strong 4g coverage and inside my plant doesn't either. Yet with tests performed for Verizon engineers for over an hr driving to different areas in and out of 4g coverage the GN showed issues with radio signal and was confirmed by the engineer I was working with. My Rezound has 4g service in areas the GN wouldn't pull in 3g
I bet those whom dont see issues live in a highly saturated 4g market area. Thing is those are same ones who claim over and over they have no issues just like those who do have issues.

I couldn't agree more. Your Rezound is, IMO, the benchmark for superior LTE radio design. It really seems to be in a class by itself. I saw exactly what you have in the 2 weeks I had my Rezound.
 
Because those few complainers threads get pushed to the bottom so they just continue posting the same thing over and over again making it look like more people are having issues than really are.
Why do you think people are trying to make it look like more people are having issues than really are?

I just got my phone and love it but there is a problem with it holding and grabbing onto a 4G signal. I still prefer it to my other choices. It's just not perfect.

I think they are going to get a lot of returns of these phones. The display is flashy and catches your eye in the store, but the speaker sucks! It is a phone after all.

I am likely keeping mine despite the problems as long as it doesn't drop calls.
 
the better idea to pinpoint the trouble and deliver the message about it to VZW, Google, or Samsung. That's what the electronics user forum is supposed to do, IMO.

I honestly believe that my focusing on pinpointing the trouble with my best knowledge will be the best choice to do, since it may help VZW (or Google or Samsung) make my GN a little better to utilize.
Yes, that is what I hope, too - that the problem can be pinpointed and solved! I just don't have the technical expertise to help pinpoint it other than to post my experience and then look at the problems that others are having and read what the experts are saying and try to put it all together.

You can bet that I will be telling VZW, G and Sammy about my experience in the hopes that they can do something about the problem. I hope others will too since that is the only way the problem will get fixed.
 
I definitely had signal issues... verified when holding my nexus next to my wife.. both had 3 bars... hers on 4G, mine on 3G...

And I live in central Tampa Florida... Dead center in a major 4G area

traded the phone in (due to that and an Email Exchange issue)... we will see how the replacement does...
 
I purchased the GNex on the first day of release. Prior to the GNex I had a DroidX. I get 4G signal at work, which is really fast. However, I only have 3G at home. At home, the tower is about 2 miles from my house, so I get good coverage. With my DroidX, I had a great signal and never a dropped call. With my GNex, I have poor to no 3G signal and numerous dropped calls. I am not referring to the bars on the phone...that has nothing to do with it. I am referring to actually being able to use the phone. I can get text messages in just fine, but calls are choppy at best and usually end up with a disconnection. I know the X had dual antennas, so maybe its a hardware issue and not a software issue. All I know is that my issue is real and I noticed on the day I brought my phone home before I ever read anything on any forums and I could care less how many bars show on my phone...I only care if it actually works when I need it to.

The real test for me was this morning and my first day back into the office since I got the G-Nexus. Where I sit typically has very poor reception for 3G and 4G reception on any phone is nonexistent.

I was really expecting to have ZERO reception because of the "signal issues". In the 2 hours that I have been here in my office, my reception has been about the same as my Motorola Bionic had.

I'm not basing my observation on how many bars I have, but rather on if my email and other notifications arrive. They do, just like they did on my bionic.

Everyone seems to be obsessed with how many bars, or what percent your battery is on. Do yourself a favor, and ignore them. You may end up enjoying your phone better!
 
Sorry to be a downer, but we are in the minority, which is why I strongly suspect whatever is causing this won't be fixed in 4.0.3.

55% is not a minority, it's the majority. Hell, I'll bet almost all owners will experience it if they're in marginal areas.

So I was on my phone last night, via Bluetooth, with the phone on my nightstand. I had somewhere around 50% battery. I hang up and turn off the Bluetooth, and go to sleep. Overnight the phone loses signal and spends all night trying to regain it, and dies. You can see in the battery screen shot, the sharp decline toward the end is my 20 minute phone call. Shortly after that the signal drops out and never comes back, until I find the dead phone in the morning. You can also notice, there are a few red lines in the signal bar. Those slim red lines represent the signal dropouts that I constantly complain about. This device spend all day on my nightstand. It never left my bedroom for 20 hours. Yet it fluctuates between 3 bars and no signal.


How is it possible that a device that never moved lost all connection?

Although we are the minority, there are still more of us than I originally thought. I agree that it probably won't be fixed in 4.03, but I think that there really is an issue, and it can't be ignored....I hope.

That's why I don't think that those that try to 'marginalize' owners with reception issues are doing us or the phone any favor. This poll has made it obvious to owners with the problem, they are actually (as of this writing) in the majority for those responding. I'll even bet there are some that are reluctant to state they too have the issue for fear of being called 'ignorant' or a 'whiner' as some here have done.

I see, and I totally understand that. It also took me a few days before I rooted my GN because of my concern about ongoing issues. :D

I just asked you about the baseband, because it seems like I haven't experienced this complete loss of data connection since I flashed the 4.0.3 baseband. I might be wrong, but all my data connection loss happened before I flashed it (during the first 5 days since the purchase). Can anyone also let me know if you are flashed with 4.0.3 baseband and are still experiencing the periodic data connection loss?

That's encouraging to hear mitra. All we want is for a resolution to the radio issues. Maybe 4.0.3 does that.
 
I am in the Hampton Roads, VA area and 4G isn't all over. I generally turn off my 4G unless I need it (Downloading/Streaming/Surfing) to save battery. My wife has an LG Revolution and she always registers a Bar or two higher then me, but if I do a speed test we both register around the same 15+ down and 5+ up. I haven't dropped any calls or anything like that. The only thing is the Data has stopped working a couple times but I am pretty sure it was the entire area.

Not true. Most people right here are talking about actual lost data, actual dropped calls and actual inability to connect to the internet. Yes, some have mentioned bars, but most are talking about real world connections, not bars.

I am actually, just not sure when. Hopefully sometime this week, but I'm not sure I'll be able to take the Rezound with me.

Honestly, I don't know if there is a point anymore. For a while there I wasn't 100% sure that my phone had a problem, so I was just going to Walt Whitman to try to replicate yours. Now though, its completely obvious, and I have screenshots to prove it. My phone loses signal just sitting on my nightstand all day. I don't even need to go to a reported dead zone anymore, my phone makes its own!! :-\
