Do you think Sprint will replace?

You got lucky. I'm glad you got it replaced BUT this is one of the reasons we have lost a lot of our perks as long time customers....along with why we are paying higher prices. Like I said, not trying to be an a$$ but people screw up their phones (whether on purpose or not) and everyone else pays the price.

That's just life. Happens with everything, car insurance, phones, taxes etc. We pay higher taxes for people to sit home, be lazy and collect free Money and we can't do a thing about it so makes no sense complaining. It is what it is. It will never stop so you'll just have to get over it buddy. He made an honest mistake and we're glad he can get a new phone and do it right this time. These cell carriers get over on us for Millions of Dollars anyway so if we didn't pay higher prices for people messing up their phones, it would be for something else they make up so don't sweat it. Peace

Yeah it does happen, buddy. But as long as you and others "sit" on collective butts, nothing gets changed. If your not part of the solution, then your part of the problem. He didn't make an "honest" mistake. Rooting and changing roms are warranty voiding policies under Sprint. He chose to root and rom and that's fine but he F'ed it up so he should pay the price. I'm glad he got a new one. I am. But when and if Sprint decides to close this loophole because of this, don't go crying to mommy.

Sure, these carriers are thieves. But that's not the point. Speaking of higher taxes........

Our property taxes here in Lake County, Fl. kept rising by 2% a year for the last 5 years. This raising was supposed to pay for updated police and fire equipment. But instead, the county was buying new Jeep Cherokees for other services. Well, the county got sued and lost. Now our property taxes this year are 10% less. So don't sit there and say "we" can't do anything.

Peace

I'm incredibly disappointed in Sprint on this one. If insurance replaced it I have no issues, but the Carrier shouldn't be sending the costs of this kind of idiocy on to everyone except the person who is defrauding the system. Insurance makes a calculated risk and it's included in the price of those who opt-in to insurance, but Sprint isn't going to just eat the cost of a $300-$800 device. That's, plus all the other fraudster and legitimate claims will be aggregated in the next rate increase for all carriers. You really stuck it to them! But them was us, not the corporation. Nice job.

Lol @ "Crying to mommy"... You're funny. I'm blessed thank God to be able to maintain a great lifestyle that paying a little extra doesn't bother me. If you have such a problem with people getting replacement phones for messing them up rooting, then report the OP to Sprint and try to stop people from getting replacement phones when they void warranty and root. We often pay hundreds of Dollars for these phones that are made in Chinese" sweat shops" (if you will) for maybe 1/3 of What they sell them for... So we're already paying too much from the start! So if you want to fight against something, fight against Cellphone companies selling us cellphones for $650 and they were made for $100... If even that much. Everything is a problem for people until you may need a replacement phone because of an accident and then you'll be praising having the option to get another one. So with all due respect bruh, sounds like you're the one crying to mommy because you're the one with the issue and I'm not complaining about paying extra for the OP to get another phone even if he messed up another one from rooting it wouldn't bother me. Have a blessed day

Relax, it will probably be fixed and handed out as an Obama phone.

Sometimes I'm a comodian and like to flush another from time to time.

Well, I'm glad that your blessed enough bruh, to be able to afford a great lifestyle. Some aren't so blessed and are struggling. But just because you can "afford" a little extra doesn't mean everyone else should on the backs of others. I agree that carriers are thieves and phones are too expensive with a ridiculous markup but that's not the point. YOU have a right to not buy the phone and/or plan and go without paying the ridiculous price. It's yours, or their choice. It's really simple. But if you choose to purchase this ridiculously priced phone and "F" it up, it should be out of your pocket. Period. To put this into perspective:

You buy a new Ford F-150 and decide to put 30" rims on it against the advice from the tire company. You drive it for a week and your driveshaft, shocks/struts, and transmission break due to strain of the larger rim size. Do you freakin' think the bank/dealer is going to let you just bring it back for a new one after a sob story? No freakin' way. They'll tell you to go pound sand. BUT that's where your insurance comes in and will take care of it....but you pay the insurance right?? So if he didn't have insurance, he should be out of luck.

Besides, I have had to get a new phone. Insurance took care of it so I didn't have to cry. Not one drop. Also ,I'm all for rooting as I'm rooted myself. If I F'ed up, I would buy another out of pocket or go without till I could. But I do have extra phones on hand so it's not a big deal to me. But under no circumstances would I go crying to Sprint screaming "I want a new phone" if I'm the one who screwed it up. It's called morality. I'd rather be moral than a thief. To note, you shouldn't be thanking "god" and using phrases like "blessed" while condoning against one of the Ten Commandments.

You're absolutely right! "Thou shalt not brick your phone and get over on Sprint for a new one because you messed it up from rooting" is a commandment. I overlooked that one being that my bible is the newer version. I stand corrected

"Thou shalt not steal". I think you need to read the bible again because I think you quoted some other mystical teachings. Carriers are thieves. But just because they are, does it justify you being one? HOOAH!

Wondering if they charged you for the replacement phone and if so how much? also, about how long did you have the phone before this and your visit to the Sprint store? (just want to know if it was within the 14 day return time so you got a new phone, if they covered it on behalf of manufacturer warranty, if you had to pay deductible with insurance, etc.)

not trying to be nosy, but I know someone who has run into a similar issue with a Kernel flash and they asked me for some insight on the matter so I have been looking around and this is the best/most recent thread I can find online pertaining to this issue.

Thanks in advance!

I wanted to come back update the situation. I took the phone into sprint I simply told them that it would not boot. they took the phone from me and asked no further questions. The techs tested it ... they couldn't get it to boot charge or do anything else for that matter so they replaced it on the spot.

P.S. I am not a frequent poster on forums so I added the quote to this figuring it might alert you faster (I could be totally wrong though) and I am unsure how to delete my previous post. Sorry!
