Do you think the GN charges too fast?

If I charge via USB 2.0 on my laptop plugged in my phone will charge to 100% from nearly dead (or dead) in about 5-6 hours. This is fine since I charge overnight. If I use an A/C outlet it will charge in about three hours under the same circumstances. If I use my car charger it is fully charged in about an hour. These are all on the extended battery. Charging in my car or on a wall outlet does not give me as many hours of use throughout the day, shortest being on the car charger since it is a fast charge.

The one thing I have always learned about fast charges on batteries is that it can be just like pouring a glass of pop. If you pour too fast it is mostly fizz, but as that settles there is not as much liquid. If it is poured slower then there is less fizz and more liquid. Same concept applies to fast charges on batteries.

I just wanted to say that that is a fantastic analogy :)

I have notice that the phone will go a long time when its saying 10% left i question if it the batt gage is messed up. Also when my first batt went bad it would take like 3 hours to charge and 3 hours to discharge but thats what drove me to the breaking point of demanding a new batt the phone always had horrable batt life from day one . I got a new batt and its like night and day compared to when i got the phone . I really think that there is more bad batterys out there then people realize my phone has been getting the battery life it should be now . I even debated returning the phone because of the batt life at first .

Supporting your view, I notice I get better battery life from the standard battery than I do from the extended battery. So either I have an unusually good standard battery or a not so great extended battery.

That's got to be one of the best analogies I've ever heard.

I personally didn't see a significant difference between the standard battery and the extended. I'm glad it was only $25.

Been using the 2100mah battery on my GNex for the last week or so. Loving the battery life now. I can get usually around 12 hours on moderate to heavy use. Hopefully there is a software update that can push that out later.

Charges extremely fast and when I left my my charger at my GF's house I realized my Palm Pre Plus wall charger works. And it works just as good. When I'm charging on the wall I admittedly don't pay as much attention though.

Nice. I will need to look into getting one of those.
Did you buy that one or just see it? I was wondering because the picture does not show the same micro usb connector as the one that came with the phone. I don't know if it matters too much. But, I do notice how snug the original cable fits into my phone, unlike my Moto car charger connector.

correct. It just takes longer to charge. Should have gotten a 1 amp one for similar price or at most $1 extra on eBay.

I can't find one...only ones I keep seeing are the .7A, not the 1A's (at least in the Samsung family of chargers...)

Where are you getting them that are rated at 1A?

Hopefully we arent all back here in 4 or 5 months complaining that the fast charging killed the number of cycles the battery had before its life ran out haha

It's not the charging speed that will make his go through cycles faster ;)

If we all compare the slopes on our battery usage graphs while charging you'll have a better assessment of your question. I have had the battery "correct itself" made a huge jump from almost empty to 40% while charging.
