Do Your Downloads Continue With Screen Off?

No i have downloaded 2 sonic games and mass effect infiltrators and screen shut off no issues so i think its something that htc will fix in an update or something

It does appear to be maddeningly inconsistent across users, afterall.

Happens to me too. I babysit my app updates for this reason. Screen times out, all other updates pause. Very poor coding by HTC, they clearly don't know what they're doing

This happens to me as well. It happens the exact same way on my evolte as well as my gnex, so that eliminates htc from being the problem. For me personally once the screen goes off it will finish downloading whatever its currently downloading but if there are several apps in queue then it will just stop once the first app is downloaded, anything after that will just hang until I get back to the phone. I have to stop the download then restart it, if the screen stays on then all of them will download just fine.

For me, it's not just downloads. It happens with file transfers too. If I'm moving lots of pictures or videos from one folder to another, that action won't get completed unless I babysit (nice phrase Saneless) the phone to keep the screen on.

Same here - I see this exact same behavior on both my HTC EVO 4G LTE and my Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Seems ICS related.

Just want to post my "me too" response. I've seen this with my Thunderbolt and the EVO 4G before it (the non-LTE version). So that sort of rules out it being an ICS thing, and yes I've always had Wifi set to never sleep.

Also, mail coming into to GMail seems to be delayed when on Wifi, but no delay when on cellular data. I also have to "babysit" the downloads/updates from the Market (I refuse to call it the Play Store...even though I sort of just did) otherwise they stall or fail. Currently I use the "KeepScreen" app to keep the screen on when the Market is open, hardly ideal but less babysitting required
