Docs from a Verizon focus group [unconfirmed]

If it can unlock hotel doors i'm assuming it does this with NFC technology which I'm pretty sure the bionic doesn't have according to the FCC.

Idk if this is the Bionic, but if it is.... AW MAH GAWD BEASTT!!!

things that seem weird -
1.2 Ghz dual core
No mention of LTE
World phone?
127 grams @ .25 Inches thick... that's crazy!

Sorry man. It's not. I can guarantee that. There's a good chance it's the SGS2, but it's definitely not the Bionic.

Never had a Samsung, they don't do notifications lights at all?

I've never had one either, although my wife has a Fascinate (got it in May). The Fascinate does not have an indicator light. I don't know of any Samsungs that do, but I admit that I don't know much about any other. The GSII that has been released does not.

With the mention of 4G, I think LTE is assumed. Also, it doesn't actually say Super Amoled Plus...just Super Amoled. The Plus can probably be assumed too though.

I believe most of the Samsung phones do not have a notification light. That said, this really does sound like a Galaxy S2 like device

One of the comments say that it will even let you launch the camera from the lock screen. As far as I know, the current software on the SGS2 doesn't do that (although it could be updated Touchwiz).

I'm thoroughly confused. Whatever it is...it's definitely a beast.

While it doesn't mention actual size, the current LTE radio DOES NOT fit in the current GSII dimensions.

So either it will have to be a complete redesign, or it's not the GSII. Maybe it's a variant due in time for Holiday.

One concern is... there is nothing on there that says Verizon is there? While its allegedly from Verizon "4G" other networks have 4G which is not LTE.

If you're saying it won't fit in the current SGSII then it sure as hell isn't going to fit in this one. The current model is 8.44mm thick. This article is claiming it's a 1/4 inch (6.35mm)

From what I understand Sammy has developed a new LTE radio that's going in the Galaxy tab 10.1 so they may be able to squeeze that one into the current model.

Either way, this is a Bionic thread and I'll be buying the Bionic for its build quality, the notification light, and Moto's unmatched reception technology.

True, doesn't say Super Amoled Plus, but does say "Super Amoled Advanced".

I don't like the fact that this leaves us with more questions. :p This really does sound like my "dream phone".

Also, does focus group mean that this device (whatever it is) is close to release?

This. ^

I'm believing that this is not on Verizon with the lack of the mention of LTE, and no mention of Verizon. Also, at this point as far as my knowledge extends there's no way that this could be on Verizon because Verizon's 4G, LTE, requires the LTE chip, which would make it impossible to be the world's thinnest smartphone. I'd figure that it's for a company the uses a GSM standard, or Sprint.

Then again, if it is true then I don't know what to think.

The person who sent this in said it was a Verizon focus group.

Phil (and others) -- maybe we need to step back and define (if we can) what a focus group is in this sense. Are they trying to define the most desired features in a phone so they can go get a manufacturer to build it? Or are they trying to highlight features in a current phone that customers like? Or something else?

Perhaps it's a group that focuses on competitor's upcoming flagships?

Very good question. I'm having a hard time believing it'd really be only a quarter-inch thick. That's 6.35mm. The Galaxy S II as it stands is 8.49mm. And adding LTE would make it thinner?

I think we are over-analyzing this. Focus groups brain storm. The minutes from the meetings are usually very rough or shorthand (ex. 4G opposed to 4G LTE) This appears to be just that. They may have had very limited solid info on the device they were 'focused' on.

I think Mr. Phil just wants to torment us bionic hold outs. Throwing some chume in bionic forum to feed the masses
