Does a 32gb Note 5 have enough space to store offline Google Maps data for all 50 U.S. states?

Since Google Maps and Navigation became completely usable while offline a few weeks agao, I've stored most of the New England and Mid-Atlantic states. It has already taken up over 4.7GB of my 32GB Note 5's internal storage.

I was just wondering if the 32GB Note have enough space to store all 50 U.S. states? I guess I could start downloading all of them and see when it will run out, but it's probably easier to ask around first.

(yes, I wish I had gotten the 64gb version 2 months ago.... )

You can get a cheap OTG cable (they can be had for $5 on Amazon) and an SD card reader (also $5) and have your external storage capability back, that way you only need to copy the data for the area you're in.

There's also some USB at best but that come with an adapter to plug directly into the phone

Does Google Maps allow data to be stored on USB flash drive attached via OTG cable?

They're stored in a not-human-readable series of files on the SD card partition. Hang on a sec I'll pull up a file explorer...

/sdcard/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.maps/cache/

I bet if you back up all that for the area you're interested in, then download a new area, back that up, etc. then just name your backups for whatever area it is you're interested in restoring... yeah kind of a pain but it's obvious Google didn't want you to do this or they would have made it a heck of a lot easier to perform.

Or you can use here map, the whole offline map for us is 4.5g.

Who knows what Google map is storing on your storage if its US map gonna be 10 times bigger than any separated GPS unit.

I have stored all the offline US maps on my 32GB S6 Active with no problems, apart from the obvious loss of significant space for photos and useful apps.

Isn't offline maps only good for 29 days? After that do you have to install all over again or can you just update and reset the cycle?

since Google Maps only allows saving offline maps one area at a time(about the size of half of my state), it sure takes a while to save the 5 or 6 states around me.

how long did it take for you to select all 50 states and download all the maps?

in the offline map data menu, there's an option to turn
auto-update offline map data on or off. the default is on.

I wonder if this means Google Maps will automatically
update the map after 30 days. If so, does that reset
the offline map for another 30 days?

According to Google...

Downloaded maps are limited to approx 50 km x 50 km in area, and limited to 6 areas at a time.

After 30 days you will be required to "Refresh" (re-download) any saved maps or they are un-usable.

I know at least one post here contradicts these statements. I'm only reporting what I read from Google.

I have installed installed at least 11 areas from NY to IL without any problems... but they took up almost 5.2GB of space, so I stopped.
