does ANYBODY have a Bionic that works?

If any of you have been in the Tbolt forums, you may know me from over there, and I'm anticipating buying a Tbolt in the next three weeks or so. However, I found out that my discount allows me to Purchase the Bionic for Less that the Tbolt. It's only a $25.00 difference, but hey, that's half a tank of gas in my truck! anyway, the thread on first impressions of the Bionic make the Tbolt look like Gold! I read through 25 pages of posts, and the huge majority of them HATE the Bionic. Now, I understand that the majority of the people who are satisfied with their purchase of the Bionic really have no need to post in a forum, because they are happy with their purchase. yet and still, I am now 50/50 on whether to go with the older, less powerful Tbolt, or the newer, seemingly much more crappier Bionic. I have 3 weeks to make up my mind, and any thoughtful insight would be greatly appreciated. $200.00 is my ceiling price-wise, which both the Bionic and Tbolt would fall. any of the other "new" phones are all going to be much too high, as my wife and I both are uprgrading. thanks in advance for any guidance given......

LOL...ITS OVER. I found the TBolt at best buy for $99.99. no way the Bionic is gonna drop that far!!! guess I'm going with the Tbolt after all.

I love mine. I have had zero problems with it.

It's fast and responsive, never locks up, and runs every app I've tried from the get go. My battery life is comparable to my OG Droid without more than some minor adjustments to the standard settings.

I have never had a BSOD, my phone never turns itself on, off, or reboots. I don't drop data (unless I'm in a bad area, and then it's the network not the phone)

I'll be getting my wife a Bionic when her upgrade comes in a few weeks as well.

Battery is more than fine for the day on 4G, extended is great option when travelling. Phone is quick and responsive.

Had a couple of phone lock ups the first couple of weeks but none since. Occasional data drops when going between wifi and 4G but nothing major, will be fixed soon anyway in OTA update.

Highly recommend.

No problems with mine. Fast, good battery life, nice Otter case to protect it - it's not as good (yet) in OS as my Palms WebOS based phones were but the hardware is great, it is super fast and with the OS update it may get even better. Best Droid phone I've seen by far. Every feature/function/app (except Direct TV) has worked well. Wish they ha a decent model with a real keyboard & far more compact size but those are quibbles. Overall extremely happy with my return to Motorola after many years.

I've been able to address everything thought needed fixing - I've rooted, upgraded through Cheesecake, and installed th3oryrom and my phone is running great. Zero issues now - and I'm at 38% battery now after 12 hours of battery. Totally happy with this phone.

I appreciate the insight, and know all the specs on both phones pretty well. as far as playing with them, believe me, the verizon store is sick of seeing me, knowing that my upgrade time isn't till the end of the month. I like both phones, but look at what I'm rocking now...the lil ol Eris. seriously, I have researched the first three LTE phones for verizon, and quickly eliminated the Charge and Revolution. the Bionic was only a wild card until talking to my "personal" verizon rep, and she told me I could actually get the Bionic with my employee discount. I've got three weeks to decide, hopefully the OTA update will hit the Bionic by then. my gut tells me the Tbolt will drop even more once the Rezound is announced, so it my win out by a nose...but we'll see.

Slipped out from original Costco belt clip case (which held the bionic horizontal) and dropped mine on concrete (though it landed flat on it's back) from ~3', Now have Dickies Nylon Pouch Case and that doesn't happen anymore..

also, now have spilled beer on it..

only minor issue (IMO), every ~14 days I seem to lose 4G LGE, drops to 3G.. Complete Shut Down, Cycle On fixes.. airplane mode off/on does not.

Speaking as a guy who came from a Thunderbolt to a Bionic, there are things I miss about my Thunderbolt but also things I like better about the Bionic. If a camera is really important to you, I think the T-bolt's camera blows the Bionics out of the water. The general responsiveness of the UI is way faster in the Bionic. The battery life is way better in the Bionic. I never had network connection issues with the T-bolt but the Bionic drops data once every few days and only a reboot will get it back on. I miss the T-bolt kickstand quite a bit. The T-bolt's external speaker is too quiet for me. The Bionic has nice volume on the external.

Both are really good phones. I don't think you'll be disappointed either way.

Of all the things your considering I think the Tbolt should be last... just go into the forum for it and ask people how their battery life is

The weird media storage problem is the main one I've had. That's fairly easy to manage. I've had a few BSOD, but I still love this phone. Like my droid x on steroids.

I have both the TB and Bionic. TB was gonna go till last week it got the firmware and GB update. HTC got it back in the game. TB has much better display specially for web pages, bluetooth, music via headphones and call quality is slightly better. Bionic is FASTER, better form factor, working swype, better build quality and MOTO will release fixes and says it will get ICS. Standard battery performance is slightly better with Bionic. I am anti two year contracts. I bought a like new TB with extended battery on Craigslist for less than a hundred bucks from an impatient and frustrated TB owner. Same with Bionic, but paid $250. i am set for a couple years, am not locked in a contract and paid only slightly higher than the original $300 contract price for just one of the phones.

Had seriously considered the Bionic for an upgrade but after using on for myself I quickly changed my mind. I tried 3 samples one at Costco, BJ's, and a releatives. Everyone of them was terrible. I have never seen a phone lag, drag, and stutter like these phones. I don't see how any manufacturer/carrier can get away with putting out such a poorly implimented product. FYI, yes I've spent hours running them though their paces. I also spend hours at my local Costco trying out new phones, the people there have come to know me well. What I have found is there doesn't seem to be a decent 4G phone out there that I would buy, they all seem to have issues regardless of manufacturer/carrier. If you don't care about 4G I highly reccomend the Droid3. Its smoothness, stability and overall user experience blows the Bionic out of the water. I still have my D2 and have sorted out the issues with GB and its once again a reliable solid phone. With that said why should a consumer have break(root) a phone to get it to run correctly?

from what I'm able to ascertain, the first generation of 4G phones for verizon are JUST NOW getting all the quirks worked out (tbolt, for sure), and I have a feeling that the Razr, bionic, Rezound, and others will have to go through the same pains. I have seriously considered going with the Droid3 or Dinc2, but them I'm stuck with a phone that is quickly going to be obsolete within months. I think my plan is to go with the Tbolt or bionic, hope that any weird quirks happens within the 14 day "grace" period, and see what happens. I believe the primary issues with the Bionic will be fixed soon, and the only reason I'm leaning towards the bionic is because it's newer than the Tbolt, but if the Tbolt drops in the next week or two, then I'm going with it....as far as rooting, I'm just not a big fan of that. I don't like to roll the dice when I have a very limited amount of money to play with.

I am fully satisfied with my Bionic.

The only issue I currently have is probably related to very poor reception in my office at work. While in my office I sometimes lose data connectivity for an extended amount of time. I either have to go into airplane mode and out, or reboot my phone to correct this problem.

In all other areas my Bionic is great.

Battery life is sufficient for a full day with the standard battery in a good coverage area. I typically juice mine up for a little bit towards the end of the day just to make sure it makes it to bed time.

Speed is great, the pentile screen doesn?t bother me.

All and all a good phone.

Its sure to get better when the maintenance update is tested and released.

I had one incident where I used Flikie HD wallpaper to change some wallpapers.. changed 4-5 in a row and noticed the last couple weren't changing. After like 10 seconds the phone rebooted on it's own and the unlock screen wouldn't unlock. It was as if the touchscreen wasn't working.

wiped the phone, and all is well. There is still the wallpaper bug though.. use an app to change the wallpaper other than the built in Gallery and after 3-4+ wallpaper changes in a row, it'll biff up.

I will say this.. If I still had my upgrade option today, I think I would want the Galaxy Nexus.. Or I would at least wait til its released and see how the reviews are for it. That's the nerd part of me who wants ICS and a phone that promises to have a TON of developers working on it.

But I have NO regrets about having gotten the Bionic. Its fantastic hardware and runs perfect for me. I guess I just kinda wish the Bionic was a Nexus device is all, lol.

My Bionic runs perfectly...not a single problem. I'm convinced that the issues are related to apps that don't work well together or don't run well on a duel core phone. Which apps cause the problems is the million dollar question.
