Does anyone else not care about a locked bootloader on Verizon?

They actually install on the unlocked phone when you boot up with a Verizon SIM. And they're uninstallable then too.

The only way I can avoid having the VZW apps is to activate the phone with the Project Fi sim and NOT the VZW sim as I was planning to do. If this is true, this sucks.

ETA- I want a DISLIKE button - I dislike your post :D

Sorry - the good news is that they're uninstallable.

I was worried it would be significantly worse

I'm completely new to the verizon world, does the community tend to find a way to get root pretty quickly?

Couldn't care less about the bootloader. My rooting days are over. My last 3 phones were wonderfully bone stock.

a lot of folks (not I) like Verizon's messenger as well.

all in all, I don't think this rises to the level of true bloatware (i.e. candy crush)
.
That's irrelevant. No one is arguing that Verizon should get rid of the app. But, it shouldn't be forced down people's throats. The fact that it's there and you are stuck with it, whether it's of any use to you or not makes it bloatware.

TL:DR for those who haven't heard:

1) all extra VZW apps are uninstallable
2) updates will not be delayed (similar to Apple updates)

So can we stop complaining about issues that don't exist?

If I buy hardware then I want to be able to tinker with the software, otherwise I feel like I merely bought an experience. I'm old and busy now so I don't switch roms every week but who knows what awesome grassroots app that needs root access might come out in the next two years, or maybe google will go in some draconian direction and try to eradicate torrents or 4chan like apple has. Root affords us a voice, and a voice is all we need to maintain freedom ;)

The locked bootloader I understand for those that care. Just hoping to keep the conversation about thay legitimate difference, and not about other things.

For me, I went with VZW because I need a Note 7 replacement and can't wait til December.

I almost did the same since I'm in the same note 7 Viking funeral boat, but I just can't get past my juvenile feelings about keeping the ability to root. Why can't you wait? T-Mobile told me they'd still refund anything I paid towards the note 7 in late November and your chances of having the note 7 burn up are lower than your lottery chances.

I didn't buy my Note from Verizon, I bought it from Samsung.com. Never, ever buy from Samsung.com. No option for a loaner, no communication, and slow service.

Even now, I had to pay full retail for 2 Pixels and wait for a refund from Samsung, which will come who knows when.
