Does anyone else not care about a locked bootloader on Verizon?

The really big issues for the people who say "don't get the verizon model" are the added blaotware (although it's better than it used to be. Also, most people don't buy a new phone every year - it's too expensive and disruptive. So, system upgrades are a big deal, even though it's not as bad as if they were also handling security updates.

I am not going to be on Verizon but the locked bootloader wouldn't bother me since I haven't rooted in a long time. I just don't see a need for it anymore. Either that or I am lazy .. One of the two :D.
The unlocked bootloader isn't the bigest issue, in my opinion. But, I don't want their bloatware, and I'm tired of waiting for the carries to allow me to get new features. Verizon has a really bad reputation in that respect.

For a lot of people, though financing is going to be an issue, though.

It is 3 uninstallable apps.

I keep hearing talk of WiFi calling and Verizon. I thought Verizons network is super great and touched every part of the earth, who needs Wifi. Okay, Sarcasm off, I personally agree with those that don't have a desire to change ROMS. I use to do it daily but not anymore. Then again, I now have Apple and don't have that concern, but I still like to keep up with the current state of devices.

and 1 of the 3 you should probably keep as it gives you all your account info . . .

a lot of folks (not I) like Verizon's messenger as well.

all in all, I don't think this rises to the level of true bloatware (i.e. candy crush)

I will be interested to see if DT Ignite is on there.

Only a vocal minority care about bootloaders, or people who are desperate for a reason to hate on a carrier they don't even use.

Verizon's messenger is great, but man do they need to work on the visual design. Every time I try to give it a chance I realize how much I hate how it looks.

I have never rooted a phone so this really doesn't matter to me... Just make sure it works, that's all I need.

I'm glad we don't have to worry about it, however, like pretty much everyone else, I too have no care if the bootloader is locked, as long as it works

I absolutely don't care. I had an upgrade available on a Verizon account I am absolutely not going to change or leave for a variety of reasons, meaning pre-ordering the Pixel through them was $200+tax and fees. For less than half the price they can lock the bootloader all they want. I guess if you were buying the thing outright, might as well buy on Google to get the most for your money...but if you can get the phone cheaper on Verizon, I think for the majority of people the bootloader is a fine price to pay.

I don't care about flashing roms anymore. But there may be some root app I'd like to get, but can't with a Verizon pixel. So I'm on the fence with that one. But I will most likely wait a while before picking up a Pixel, so I can always get the unlocked version from google then. But if I had to get a Pixel today, the locked bootloader wouldn't stop me.

I agree. I am not a fan. I use Google messenger, and more recently Textra. Like many, I hope Google makes Allo relevant, because that would be the best of all worlds.

Here's my dilemma with Verizon and a locked bootloader: If you buy verizon, you will have bloatware which you cannot uninstall without root and if you buy from Google there will be no bloatware and no need for an unlocked bootloader to uninstall unwanted apps. Quite the conundrum.

All that aside, there will be a workaround to unlock the bootloader on verizon in time. So it's not really anything to worry about to begin with.

Not true, Verizon has stayed that all of there apps will be able to be uninstalled.

I haven't put any ROM on my devices since GNex, but it doesn't mean I won't do it later. I like to have freedom of doing what I wanted to do with my "paid" device whenever.

Are there any apps that work similarly to "Package Disabler Pro," which I understand was Samsung-specific? PDP made it easy to find and disable DTIgnite, but I wonder if there will be a similar way to find and disable it on the Pixel?

I don't think that app is on the Pixel.
