Does anyone else prefer big 720p phones for the battery life benefit?

I seem to recall trying an app that mimics that....perhaps to save battery on an OLED display. I don't remember much about it. It may have been some sort of black masking of some of the pixels. But to be able to do it properly would indeed be useful when you don't need high resolution.

Yeah, I checked that app out at one point. It turns off pixels, so it'd save power on AMOLED displays. But it can look a little wonky.

But I don't bother to use it... If I didn't charge often, I'd be able to get 4 to 5 hours, depending what I did that day, out of the 6P. And seeing as I'm rarely using the phone that much in a day, I'm pleased.

Battery life always seem to be the least of my concern. I've never used a device with horrible battery life. I usually charge my phone at least twice daily. I keep a charger at work and have a portable power bank for emergency.

I think the previous post didn't get posted. I have mate 30 pro (Huawei) with oled screen. Even throught it's 6.5 inch, I've set 720p resolution today. That doesn't bother me. It has a huge 4500mah battery but I feel like it doesn't actually last long. But it actually does the good job. 6-8 sot.

In terms of battery in technology, I also agree it's very far away from everything. We still use the Li-Ion/ Li-Po batteries that go 80% of capacity after 300 cycles. And the capacity is good, but not for devices that we have today. This is the main problem of devices today, in my opinion. Changing resolution on IPS will actually make the battery life and performance better but not by the screen but by the GPU. I think! Because it lowers the quality for example when you're watching vids or playing games. On my old rusty laptop I sometimes set resolution to 600x400, which is a total visual mess, but at least performance goes way way up. So you can save the power on pulling Less load on the GPU

This is a thread that got resurrected from the dead lol... I think the popularity of the moto G power and similar phones in 4he psst few years have answered any questions this thread had.
