Question Does anyone have any experiences with Samsung's mail-in warranty service?

So here's the story. I got a brand new Galaxy A36 5G for an absolute steal (Like $150 off), complete with warranty and everything from a guy on eBay. (I even have the original receipt.) But a few days after getting it I noticed some weird bits on the plastic around the uppermost camera lens. I can't really determine if it's actually debris or just rough bits of plastic along the edge of the camera but it's annoying as sin. (Note, this does not impact photos and is not on the glass either, it's actually on the very edge of the plastic shroud.)

Samsung has agreed to let me send it in, but I'm second guessing myself. A long time ago Apple removed the screen protector and scratched the screen of my iPhone SE when I sent it in for a battery replacement, and I'm worried something similar might happen here. The phone, besides this issue, is pristine and I know I'd be super upset if it came back damaged.

Anyone have any experiences with Samsung warranty repairs? Is it worth even doing something for a non-functional issue such as this? Am I likely to get it back in worse shape than I sent it in?

Lots of questions, I know, but I'm very conflicted.

You could just ask them, and I say this because I'm not sure they would qualify this for warranty services. Something else to consider would be you may lose your IP rating. Once a device has been opened for service they may no longer guarantee the IP rating. Well I know that's what authorized repair centers like UBreakIFix, tells customers. I guess if you can get them to take it directly, maybe if Samsung does the repair it might be different.

Personally that wouldn't be enough for the common user to be concerned with but it is you, your feelings, and your device. I would either go on Samsung Members site/app and post this question there. Get Samsung's opinion and guidance. I think in 4 days you'll forget all about it since it doesn't affect performance but...

Let us know what you find.
