Does anyone know why after unblocking someone on the pixel phone, the messages come through?

I blocked someone in hopes to not have to read their text messages but then decided to unblock them and apparently the messages came through even though they were sent while blocked.

I blocked someone in hopes to not have to read their text messages but then decided to unblock them and apparently the messages came through even though they were sent while blocked.

blocking is not at the carrier level. you still get the message but pixel just stops it from notifying/showing you.
for calls its just blocked and u never get to see it but for message u still received it and its on your device.
