Does anyone remember? Dual camera question

I swear I remember hearing a demo (back in april-ish) mentioning that you could take a 2D pic using both cameras and combine them to make a 10mp pic (not exactly sure how it would work) all on the phone. You could also use the dual camera situation to take a panoramic pic. am I remembering things wrong? Am i crazy? These things kinda make sense to me. Anyone else remember this stuff?

No there was never a demo stating that.

There was a troll on another forum named BSOD who claimed to be an HTC worker and said that it was possible though. I didn't know people were still thinking about what that guy said lol.

i don't remember hearing about that but i didn't start paying attention to the evo until recently. though it doesn't really seem plausible to me...

I remember reading that also. Since I haven't heard about it since, I'm assuming it was just speculation that turned out to be wrong. Not 100% sure though.

I assume that it was just speculation since nobody has mentioned it lately, but the panoramic idea seems plausible and cool. Wonder if it could become an update or 3rd party add on. I bet being able to use both cameras at the same time for 2D shots could produce some cool stuff. So if someone else remembers this then at least I'm not crazy.

any reason that we couldn't make software that utilizes the other one for 2D? Would it look better if we could overlap the pictures to fill in gaps rather than create the 3D effect? Essentially, could teh hax give us that sweet 10mp shot or something like it?

I wouldn't put anything past root developers. However for me it isn't important. As long as it takes visible quick shots, I'm good.

Stupid Troll, I remember his post. Verrrry long and detailed. He put great effort into his trolling. That makes for a "skillful troll" but a really lame person. I guess he pulled one over on me. Still, HTC...lets make the panorama's happen.

dunno how that would work. the lenses aren't far apart enough to let you take a larger panoramic shot which is stitched together since both cameras are essentially taking the same but slightly different shot.

twice the size would be cool but I was thinking using it to improve quality on a the parts of the separate pictures that overlap.
