Does anyone think its TOO big?

Is this device too big for you?

The height is irrelevant when you are holding the phone. It is width that matters and the Galaxy Nexus is 0.9mm less wide and 0.5mm thinner than the 4.5" T-Mobile Galaxy SII.
And even in height (for when you put it in your pocket), it is only 0.22in (less than a quarter of an inch) taller than the 4.5" T-Mobile Galaxy SII.
So if you go to a T-Mobile store and hold the 4.5" Galaxy SII you will be holding the GN. I did and I find the size perfect.

Height obviously isn't irrelevant. So, somehow 1/4" bigger than the biggest phone out there doesn't make this a huge phone? Again, I'm not saying it will change my mind on getting it, but it definitely is HUGE, and that HUGE bezel top and bottom is fail. Everything else about the phone is great, but I refuse to just brush the size and bezel under the rug like so many others have done.

I'm sure if you open the phone it won't be wasted space behind the bezel. I think we are just reaching limits for somewhat affordable hardware in the most compact design.

To be honest I'm surprised a phone, 4.65 screen, GPS, LTE, barometer, FM radio?, microphone, NFC, speaker, notification light, not one but 2 cameras, etc etc can be squeezed into such a small space.

Yes its a large phone, and yes it has a large bezel. They did it for a purpose because I'm sure that they didn't design the phone with them just because they find large phones with large bezel sexy. We know and have talked about how large it is and how much bezel it has for probably too long. Can't we just agree to agree to disagree?

Sent from an app that you can probably guess.

The phone is exactly the same height as the Sony Ericsson C905 when opened, a phone I used one handed for ages, in fact right now typing this message, and I have to use the top right corner button cos one of the menu buttons is broken lol.

It's simple. If you think the T-mobile 4.5" Galaxy SII is too big, then the GN will be too big for you. But for myself and many others (the T-Mobile Galaxy SII is a best seller) that think that the form factor of the Galaxy SII is just right, then the Galaxy Nexus which has similar dimensions will be just right too.

If you open the GN phone you will see every nook and cranny of the phone packed. It is 0.5mm thinner than the Galaxy SII. It is 0.9mm less wide than the Galaxy SII. It has a longer lasting battery. It has a 4.65" HD screen vs a 4.5" screen for SII. And yet it weights the same as the SII. And if you open it you will see that every nook and cranny of the phone is filled. The Galaxy Nexus packs more technology per square inch than any other phone out there.

Re: 4.65" Device - Is it too big?

I'm with you belogical. I started a similar thread (sans poll) a few days ago. I really am surprised that more people don't think that its too large. They mentioned at the debut that they got feedback that people love larger phones so I guess they are going that direction. At what point does the phone become too large? Where are people's limits? I'm not so concerned about it in my hand, but I have to carry it around somehow and this thing seems like its going to be gargantuan in my pocket. Might actually not fit in the cell phone pocket of some of the cargo type pants that I wear.

My guess is that as long as it fits in a normal size pocket (jeans, chino's, dockers etc) it will be ok for most people. Women, however, have such small pockets on their clothes that I would think the iphone would even be too big. I work in the medical field and wear a white labcoat so I am good with the bigger size....I prefer it.

Right, but women have those purse things that we thankfully don't have to carry. Unless you carry a European Man Bag that is. :p

This is definitely too big for me. I had a Thunderbolt for a few weeks and that was way too big for my tastes. Swiping around with my thumb was just never comfortable and always felt like my thumb was not moving in natural ways. Wife's Droid Inc is the best size phone I've ever owned. Man, if they could pack the Galaxy Nexus guts into a Droid Inc size phone it would be sweet.

The poll says it all. 89% are in love with the GN... I'm including the 28% that want hands on cause I'm certain once they see it they'll buy it... it's an awesome phone....

Well of course the poll says that 61% like the phone and 28% are on the fence. It's rather self-selecting; most people who don't like the phone probably aren't in this forum that much, much less voting on the polls.

To be fair, though, even if AC put a mandatory poll on the home page asking if people thought the Galaxy Nexus is too large, I'd imagine that a majority would say the size is fine. I think most people who don't want the phone find fault in something other than the size, though I have met a lot of people who want to convert to Android from BlackBerry or iOS but who were too turned off by the sizes of the higher-end phones.

Alotta people don't like the amount of bezel at the top and bottom, or it could've been reduced. I'll hold my judgement on that when an unnamed tech. site, tears it down. I gotta believe they designed it at that length, because of internals. Doubt they made it that length just for the heck of it. Knowing length plays a key role in purchasing for many consumers. If they did though...aye, carumba:mad:

Yea, I'm sure it was made that long out of necessity. I hope! I'd like to think they would have made it smaller if they could have. I hope.

When I look at it in people's hand in videos it doesn't look that huge, but I'm thinking that might change when its in my hand.

I want the phone and I think its too large. I had that same issue coming from my BB. I thought the Fascinate was HUGE, although now it seems perfectly fine. I also thought the same thing going from my BB Pearl to full sized BB and also from my old school flip phone to the BB Pearl. So I guess all is relative. I'm just not sure where it ends before we are stuffing tablets in our pockets.

I went to Costco yet again today for some shopping and I stopped and looked at the T-Mobile Galaxy SII that the Galaxy Nexus has similar dimensions and weight. I LOVE the size and weight of the Galaxy SII. And unlike the Galaxy SII which has 800x480 resolution, the Galaxy Nexus adds 140% more resolution than the Galaxy SII, in the same package. 140%!!... this is more resolution than the iPad... so think of Galaxy Nexus as a phonetablet rather just a phone, in same package as the T-Mobile Galaxy SII.... I can't wait!!!!!

BTW, Costco will be carrying the phone to boot.... and no better place to buy anything than Costco. Awesome company.

Seems like everybodys been indifferent about the width. Length never bothered me size wise. I was worried for awhile, about the screen width, not device. In early side by side pics I saw it really looked like the 4.5" on GS2 variants looked to be wider than the GNex. Thankfully, the Ph. Arena comparison tool seems to indicate it's really close to the same size. Whew!!!
On another note, I find it funny that so many people say it's too long. I've got a DX and I've never had any trouble reaching any part of the screen w/ my finger, while holding it in one hand. It puzzles me becauase I've got hands like that depressesd dude in those Burger King commercials. I'm talking tiny.
