Does AT&T suck on the Nexus One?

The hands-on video phil gave, setting the Nexus next to the Aria, really shows off the superiority of the Nexus screen size.
When can we expect the price to drop for the Nexus?

I came from an iPhone 3G where nearly every call I made from home was dropped, or wouldn't connect at all. In the three weeks I've had my Nexus One I have only dropped one call, and that was on the first day I got it. The 3G data speed seems about the same to me. Couldn't be happier with the phone.

BTW, the signal strength meter shows the same signal strength as my old iPhone did, but it just hangs onto the calls better.

You can now help ATT find dead zones, and diagnose dropped calls with the Mark The Spot app. (Its been out for iphone for months, just arrived in the Market today 6/16. Free.

AT&T Mark the Spot - Android app on AppBrain

You launch it each time you get a dropped call, or no bars, or slooooow data.
It reports the location and AT&T can then dispatch 3 trucks, a tower crew, and two technicians to fix the problem and polish your phone. Or NOT.

But hey, if they hand you the stick, you might as well beat them with it. Even if it goes directly to the bit bucket, you did your part.

I am definitely calling HTC soon to try and
get a replacement N1. My reception has
actually been very ****ty. My 9700 or 3Gs
don't have reception issues. I've already
tried different radios and after seeing this
thread, I must assume that it is my device.

I rarely ever have 5 bars and this is in my
home and everywhere I go. My home
always has 5 bars of reception for all other
devices.

To keep it a bit fair, I'm having other issues
like the wifi policy not being adhered to, so
I probably have narrowed it down to a device
issue.

For the record, mine is for AT&T 3G on AT&T.

Ok I want to confirm something if anyone can please answer this. I have read in a few places that the N1 does not use 3G but by what you write and by what I have seen on the google website it does. I just want to make sure that it does indeed use 3G. The articles I have read are from earlier this year so maybe things have changed. Please let me know. Thanks.

There's two versions of the N1. One for AT&T and one for T-Mobile.
If you try to use one on the other carrier, you won't get 3G (just Edge).
Use the correct one on the right carrier, and you'll have full 3G.

And just a follow-up since I'm the thread starter, I've decided to wait a month or so and see what the reports say about the reception capabilities of the iPhone 4. If it's no better than the 3GS, I'll go with the Nexus. If it's better, well, then I've got a decision to make.

Luckily, I have two lines and I already pre-ordered the iPhone for one of them now I just want an Android phone for my other line. So now I am just trying to make up my mind. Its between the N1, Dell Streak & HTC Aria but by the looks of it, I am probably just going to get the N1. Still have a few more days to decide.

Dell streak is huge, and the aria is a less powerful and smaller version of the Incredible. The aria is also, like any android phone sold through ATT, is partially locked down and crippled (such as the ability to install from "unknown sources" or outside of the market is disabled). I'd go with the N1 unless the Streak suites your needs.

Yea I'm looking forward to customizing it. Now the only thing is to root or not to root. That is the question. I wouldn't mind getting froyo right away but I'm wondering if I should just wait.

If its just to get Froyo I'd wait and not root. The official OTA update should be in the next couple weeks.
