Android Central Question

I have my phone to not udate apps automatically because I think it uses up my internal storage which I only have 16gb of original storage.
Should I enable auto update or not.
On my new LG premier plus phone I have updates set to not update automatically but some apps still update automatically and I have checked each app and all of them I have the auto update boxes unchecked.
I would appreciate any answers that would help me keep my phone running fast like it is now because it's New and I have heard to leave the phone alone as you got it is the best way to keep it longer and running like it did when it was New. Thanks

Yup, it does, but so does manually updating. Whenever you update an app (whether it's automatically or manually) the phone downloads the update package (that's memory used). Then, to install, it needs to unpack that data so it can manipulate/install it (that's more memory used) and then apply the update to the app, which, sometimes, can result in an increased app size (depends on the kind of update and sometimes devs optimize their apps and end up being smaller than before). As a rule of thumb, to update an app, you need roughly twice the size of the update file in free internal memory space. BUT this space isn't used forever. It will eventually get wiped when not in use or when needed by another update.

Unfortunately for you 16GB is just not enough for the apps we use these days, and since nearly half of that is already taken up by the OS alone, you're not left with a lot of room to work with.
