Does data speed upgrade = LTE?

Hi,

I was at looking on Sprint's planned activity for my area (https://network.sprint.com) and noticed that there are a number of upgrades planned in the "next 6 months". But the one the piqued my interest was the "Data Speed Upgrade". Does this mean LTE (we have Wimax)? I am located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

No it just means they are adding additional t1 backhaul to boost the speed of 3g only.

Faster 3g should be exciting. Okay maybe not the same as getting lte. But when you get 0.3mps for 3g it is miserable. If they can boost 3g speeds to look like 2mps,I think that's exciting.

my 3G speeds got boosted when I installed JB on my Galaxy Nexus on Sprint. It's almost 2mbps now.
