I have wondered that too. I eventually came to the conclusion that all things have risks. There is a chance that the more often you write and rewrite data the more likely it can be corrupted. The same question could be asked of changing roms. However, if you think about the way the devs treat the testing devices it is possible to write and rewrite with no real consequences. So I'm gonna be flashing until the day my phone dies.

I was told that all the writing and re writing of system files will eventually fry the board in my optimus. I doubt it however.

My optimus is one of the original nov. 2010 models. I bought it used in jan. 2011 and I bet I've flashed mods, roms and such while testing at least 1000 times over the last year. That might be a slightly high figure, but I would not be surprised if its not.

The only thing that seems to be a bit worn out for me is the 4gb class 6 sd card. The phone itself is as strong as it ever was, or so it seems.

Yes there are always risks however, YMMV.

Flashing roms that many times may wear your flash chips quickly. Eventually the flash chip on the phone will fail (usually gradually, unless you write to the whole flash)... But at that time, it will probably be time to replace your phone anyways...

There's always the possibility of deterioration in electronics...but it generally takes a very long period of extensive use...

To reply to the topic: I've never had any issues and have flashed more frequently than most users on this forum. I'm probably second in number of flashes only to the devs....
