does it matter if update.zip is unzipped before it goes on the sd card?

Hello, I am new to this forum and the android os. I rooted my Fascinate with odin and superclean 2.9. In the process I assumed that the update.zip should be unzipped before I put it on my sd card. I have since read that doing this will "break the signature"? Also, when the phone connected with odin the first two boxes lit up yellow with a different [COM ] on each one. At the end the first box passed and the second box failed. With all that said, The root was successful and the phone works great so far. So my questions are, does it matter if update.zip is unzipped before it goes on the sd card? Is having two yellow boxes lit up in odin ok or may there be a problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do not unzip the update.zip file.

As far as Odin. I have not seen that event take place. As long as you are not experiencing any operational issues with the phone it should be a concern.

Usually when you have two boxes lit up yellow it's because you have some other device connected to your computer by usb

no something else has to be plugged in, an ipod, printer, something

The same exact thing happened with me on Odin. I assumed it was just my printer. Nothing bad has happened, yet....=)
