Does rooting delete the apps and data?

I'm considering the root and know that Titanium back up is recommended. However, it seems that you need to be rooted in order to use Titanium.

If I root the phone will all the apps and data be deleted? I am on the LG Revolution V2.3.4.

I can report that rooting does not clear apps and data. It only provides SU access.

Flashing to a custom ROM will clear apps and data.

may i ask how to root without clear apps and maintain my android kitkat.
