Does Tether not work with the HTC One?

I was trying to use tether (the app named "tether") on my One, unrooted. Tether just keeps saying "waiting for connection over USB" even when the phone is plugged in (and is USB debug mode). Is this something with sprint blocking tether? I thought I had used it in the past without a root.

I'm not rooted and use PdaNet+ for tethering with no problems so don't think Sprint is the problem.

Are you on Sprint? I just looked up PdaNet+ in the Play store, and it said that it was NOT compatible with my One (or my wife's Google Nexus) on Sprint. I think that Sprint phones are blocked from tether apps, but not sure.

I'm not able to use it on my Sprint One.

I'm replying right now on my ASUSTF300T that is tethered via bluetooth to my HTC ONE. I used Pdanet+ (And no, the wifi hotspot portion does not work on my ONE)
