I heard the 30 dollar plan does not cover LTE in every city? Is that true?

I'm. 10 mins east of LA and I get LTE. I had no issue when I was in downtown LA

I don't know how they can block LTE use per City. It's technically possible, but I don't see T-Mobile doing that. Have you called T-Mobile to confirm?

I have LTE all over San Diego and Southwest Riverside County. It seems to be tower by tower as opposed to city by city. Also, most of the area has moved 3G (HSPA+) to the 1900 MHz band, which the N5 supports. I would say SoCal coverage is really good if not great on T Mobile.

I was just in Colorado and saw a lot of 2G out there in areas that should have 3G, which means there are still a lot of towers in that area with 3G on the 1700 MHz.

I think the OP's question is if the $30 plan specifically allows LTE in limited Cities versus wherever it's available.

I am enjoying the Nexus 5 and T-Mobile. I'm not bothering with the camera until I get 4.4.1. what I really wish was that I could Google Voice for my Voicemail. But T-Mobile's voicemail does not seem to bad.
