Does the Droid Razr and the Droid Razr Maxx have the same model number???

Simple, yet curious question. A buddy of mine has a droid razr from verizon, today we were talking about the battery difference between the original vs the maxx. While talking I mentioned that mine was a xt908 and the verizon version of the maxx was the 912. So he questioned that stating his was the 912. He pulled his case off and on the back it says xt912. I was reading over on another forum that the verizon razr was a 910. So im still confused. Does the razr and maxx have the same model number?.

They have the same model number, XT912, because they have the exact same hardware, with the only difference being the size of the battery. If you're not sure which model you're looking at, the Razr is very thin as you go down from the top of the phone where the camera is, while the Razr Maxx hardly tapers at all. Also, the Razr has a white Motorola badge with black lettering, while the Razr Maxx has the reverse.

Ya I knew the difference, I just never thought the model number was the same. Sort of weird, but again makes sense I guess. I buy and sell phones sometimes and was approached with a cheap offer on a razr and that when we started the confusing convo. Lol
