Does the Droid Turbo Support the Chromecast cast screen function?

I am wanting to use this "cast screen" function to mirror my Droid Turbo screen (preferably without having to utilize my wifi) to our Samsung TV. I just got chromecast setup the other night and have only tried Youtube, which worked great.

After watching a couple youtube videos about this cast screen feature, it appears there is a "cast screen" option in the chromecast menu. I don't have this phone in front of me (as it's my wife's), but I don't recall seeing this option the other night when sitting this up.

I've noticed several lists of devices that support cast screen, but have yet to see the Turbo on any of them.

Any insight on this issue, would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! When you swipe down from the top with two fingers to get the Quick Settings menu, does the Cast Screen button show up there? Not sure how different the Turbo is from the Nexus 5, but that's where the Cast Screen button shows up for me.

Yeah it is not showing and does not let me cast the screen, it shows in the supported apps only.

Under settings-display there is a cast screen setting but it does not find my chrome cast.

No such luck on Motorola phones, but I found this list from an article dated on 11/1/14...

Now hold on, did I say nineteen devices can now mirror to Chromecast? Why yes, that is what I said. Interestingly, Sony now ties Samsung with five devices each on the list, the Nexus line follows with a four count and LG then HTC finish things off. Let’s look at the supported devices:

Sony Xperia Z3
Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
Sony Xperia Z3v
Sony Xperia Z2
Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet
Samsung Galaxy S5
Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition
Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Samsung Galaxy Note 10
Nexus 4
Nexus 5
Nexus 7 (2013)
Nexus 10
LG G3
LG G2
LG G Pro 2
HTC One (M7) and One (M7) Google Play Edition

I bought a netgear push2tv device on eBay for $29.99. It works flawlessly with my turbo. Mirrors the device only though. So you can't do other things while casting.

This is one of the first things I tried when I bought my Turbo. I do not get the Cast Screen option and I've played with the display settings and the chromecast app. I have the option on my Nexus 10 and love it. It's my understanding that Lollipop with bring the feature to everyone, so I will gladly wait.

If they're going to make changes to the stock rom, I don't understand why they would keep the Cast Screen option if it doesn't work.

It's there under settings and display for me. Shows up as just "Cast Screen".

My turbo has the option. Strange yours doesn't.

With my Nexus, I am used to the Cast Screen option showing up in the Quick Settings once a Chromcast is detected on the network or the option showing up in the Chromecast app. I don't remember for sure now, but I thought I had gone into the display settings menu and messing around in the Cast Screen sub menu like you are showing and I still couldn't get it to see my chromecast. I think that option is geared towards miracast as well as chromcast if supported by the device. To my knowledge, the only devices that support the Cast Screen option are the Nexus devices and a few select flagship phones, like the S5 and the M8. I have never had a chance to try it with my girlfriends S5, so I can't confirm that for sure.

I believe this is for miracast only, (Cast Screen) but I could be wrong. I used it with my miracast device and it worked as expected. I haven't tried casting anything to my Chromecast yet; just haven't gotten around to it.

Worked for my netgear push2tv device

Did you make sure you were connected to WiFi?

Chromecast currently does not support the Turbo maybe later; so you can't mirror your phone directly to Chromecast. The Turbo does have a Cast Screen option under display enabled it and you will have an icon in your Quick Settings. Turn on Screen Mirroring in your Samsung TV and they will link up. If your Samsung TV does not offer Screen Mirroring then you will need to wait until Chromecast supports the Turbo.

The cast screen option is now available in the Chromecast app. I don't know if the system update had anything to do with it or if the Chromecast app updated, either way its pretty cool.
