Does the Evo have any faults?

I'm writing this from my Pre (yeah, I'm another defector), so I apologize in advance for typos or formatting errors. So I've seen a lot of comments, reviews, and videos that make me believe the Evo is far and away the best phone on the market. What I have yet to really see, however, is a negative comment about anything to do with the Evo. And just to reiterate, I'm definitely getting this phone, even if somebody does come up with something really bad. So I just want to know: does the Evo have any faults or anything missing?

I'll point out a couple of possible flaws that might be mentioned to get things started:
-Processor - yeah, there might be a 1.5 Ghz around the corner, but that will always be the case with tech, and the 1 Ghz snapdraggon seams plenty fast.

-GAL/universal search for contacts - coming from a Pre, this may be the only feature I will miss, but then again, I think I have read that Android has an app for that. Related to that, I'm not sure how Android compares to Palm with the rest of the Synergy features (i.e. Merged calendars, contacts, email, and tasks --i use exchange, gmail, and yahoo), but I feel like I might miss that feature (or at least the elegance of it) when I switch to the Evo.

Well it's time to put my Pre down before I develop carpal tunnel (sp? I can't spell check b/c my pre is giving me the "too many cards" error) or something.

Well they are not Evo specific, but the lack of unified email inbox in android is kind of annoying, but far from a deal breaker. Also, I am still a little uncertain about actually carrying the Evo around in my pocket. I would like to see more 512MB more RAM (a total of 1GB) and I would like to see 8-16GB of flash memory installed. Other than that, I can't think of much more. I still can't wait to see what a device with OMAP4 or Tegra 2 will bring to the table.

Well google hasn't taken a crap on my contacts like Synergy did.

Also, there is a universal search built in. Just tap the magnifying glass and start typing and voila, it searches the internet and your contacts, and music and everything.

Google allows you to sync calendars, contacts, e-mail, tasks... probably a lot more that I don't use, but I use those 4 currently. Exchange works out of the box.

Also, the spell correction is good, but obscure words get substituted to some things that don't make any sense, so you gotta pay attention.

Yeah I was hoping for more ram and more internal storage memory too. Not sure why the Incredible got 8 gb and the Evo won't?

This is going to be an interesting year, but as of now, I am still on course with the Evo, I just really really hope that they will show us the C40 before the Evo is for sale, just so I can make an informed, and less of a impulsive decision.

if you read the Ncedible review you see not having internal memory is not a flaw.

the major flaw is it's not released now. Sprint announced and allows competitors to build momentum before the the release.
I'm sure the Incredible peeled off some VZ defectors.

Interesting on the "iniversal search" I've been playing with the moment and it doesn't seem to do that.

My only concerns are weight and battery life. It sounds like the the 1500ma battery should last through a busy day, but 6oz is one heavy phone.

I second the lack of touchstone. Such a nice feature to have on a phone. Palm should have included it with all of their phones from day one.

what I'm gonna miss for sure on the EVO (or Android in general for that matter) is the lack of quality games like on Palm webOS and iPhone due to fragmentation that really turns off major game developers due to it being really hard to make a awesome 3d games without half the community whining that it don't run properly on their devices... I'm gonna miss NOVA, Modern Combat Sandstorm, NeedForSpeed Undercover, etc. I know Android have "some" good games and it's not a handheld gaming device but I have been too spoiled with online first person shooter action and such...

other than that, all I can think of is that it's not here soon enough, bring on the EVO!!!

I love and will miss the touchstone too, but someone in another thread pointed out a solution to this problem. This year at CES Powermat introduced a product (due out this summer) that will let you use the powermat to charge your phone without their adaptor/case that is currently required. It's called powerpak and it's a special battery that just replaces your stock battery. It's supposed to only cost $40 and they said there will be batteries that fit most phones (I think one or two HTC phones were in the demo, which bodes well for the Evo). There is a video of it on youtube if you are interested.

I have gotten in touch with Glu mobile and they said they have plans for porting many of their games over to android, including Super KO Boxing. Gameloft has a working version of Oregon Trail on android, which would also lead me to believe that Gameloft will be porting their games over too.

Battery life is pretty much my one and only concern.

If it has good battery life it will definitely give iPhone #4 a run for it's money.

They run the risk of being kicked out of the Apple App Store because Jobs is being a baby. There is a new rule regarding porting applications over to other platforms. Which is just sad. This is why open development is making a major movement.

I'd really like to see Swype on this phone. I think it could be the new way of entering text. I've never used an on screen keyboard (except for with a stylus from my WinMo days). It is definitely not a deal breaker, but it would be cool.

I have read a bit about the new rules for iPhone developers, especially the one where they are supposed to write everything in C/C++ and can't use any type of compilers, but are you saying that anyone programming for the iPhone is not allowed to port to other platforms?

That's absolutely rediculous. The man is going berzerk! He is also trying to buy ARM so noone but Apple can get the good cpus.

Guess ole' Steve is scared of the Android competetion, probably a reason why he sued HTC.
