Does the Fire device allow me to cast Amazon Prime TV shows off my Android phone to a proper TV set?

Chromecast will not do this, thanks to the rivalry between Google and Amazon. The tech support people tell me Fire will work. But these units cost anywhere between 80 and 100, while Chromecast is just 35.

If Fire works I'm sure I can find one at a better price.

How does the Fire device connect to the TV? It has coax and HDMI ports.

The Amazon FireTV devices connect using HDMI and I assure you they are not $100. You can get a FireTV Stick for $40 (US), and it comes with a remote. You interact with the device using the remote, using the TV to see what you're doing.

The more expensive Fire devices you see are likely tablets and won't do what you're looking to do.
