What are you guys defending it for? If you really do not see how the announcement was disappointing than get your glasses on.

People complain that the plastic doesn't bother them because it will be in a case. So telling me that the back is now soft-touch plastic to defend the rest of the **** design is a cop out excuse. the front looks the same, the shape is the same, the sides are the same. Its the same damn phone, but stretched out, and now with 2 new crap colors. Sorry Samsung, you cant make gold look good using cost saving materials.

I'm defending it because it ain't that serious.

And I get what Samsung is doing.

When they got the S3, it was the "latest and greatest". When the S5 is available, it'll look like the "latest and greatest" to them.

Quoted for truth!!

Trandz, I was also underwhelmed with the S5 but you have to understand that they probably didn't venture off much with the design because it works for them, just like Apple. And you're not going to see big leaps in tech unless its a 2 or more year spread. I'm going to have to see it and play with it in person to make my final decision on whether to get this device or wait for something else. I'm honestly hoping now that something more interesting comes along so I can try it out. I just hope its well worth it since I'll more than likely have to keep it for 2 years!

Honestly I wasn't impressed but Samsung clearly saw no need to throw the kitchen sink at the phone. Its arguable whether you would be able to make our the difference between 1080p and and 1440p. It would be brighter maybe (Samsung claims the screen is brighter anyway). The CPU should do ok. Even with these specs the phone is still powerful. Until it has to dual boot windows the 64 bit chip ain't a big deal.

I'm unimpressed and disappointed. I was so looking forward to this phone too. Now I'll wait and see what Sony and HTC come up with. Damn shame samsung.

Yeah I know. I was just surprised because, you know, it's Samsung. Lol.

Yeah. They went all out with all of the other specs though. Aside from the rumored 2K display. Glad they didn't go with that one

Same. The 2K display would have been unnecessary.

No 2K display: "1080 sucks, need moar pixels"
2K display: "Too many pixels, need moar battery life"

Exactly. Happens pretty much every time a new major phone comes out.

The specs bumped up and sure that met my expectations, metal design wasn't a must have for me. Fingerprint and heart monitor are gimicks (apple) that I won't use or won't find necessary. On the fence with the GS4 which is a known device. How much longer before bigger processor just eats up the battery bump.

The SD800 was more efficient than the 600. The 801 shouldn't be any different.

I think rumors kill these phones. Everyone was hoping for a 2k display, 4gb ram, and a camera that blows every telescopes out of the water. But for real though, this is what was to be expected. Personally I won't be buying one, but its by no means a slouch. Htc is most likely going to make the new one look like last years and it will be praised as the best thing since sliced bread. Everyone hates the big players, which is why samsung gets more flack than htc will. Were at the point, the s805 isn't ready yet, so these specs are about as good as you'll get for the times, plus they added a larger battery as well which htc will probably stick with smaller battery and once again be one of the biggest complaints.

you say two or more year spread. However the phone runs similar as to what the s3 did. That is my point. S4 was marginally better than the 3 and the 5 is marginally better than the 4.at least Apples 5s was way better than the 4s and even a good leap from the 5.

Any bigger and it would be in the note series, the s series is created for easy one hand use, I don't see how that would be possible (comfortably and universally) on anything bigger than 5.2-3 inches. But it all depends on the person, I can type comfortably in one hand with my note3

The S4 was a bigger leap compared to the S3 than the iPhone 5 was to the 4S. The same is true this year.
