you sir. Are off your rocker

S3 > S4: Camera up 5MP, 720p to 1080p display, dual to quad core processor, 500 mAh battery bump, 0.2 inch screen increase.
4S > 5: Longer screen and slightly larger battery + LTE support.

It's a resounding "meh" for me. I keep wondering why only 2gb of ram. The note 3 has 3. It just seemed rushed.

Why 3? The Note line is completely separate from the S line. Not sure why it's expected that they have similar specs.

This was a big no show. a quick breakdown from what i thought

Metal casing would have been huge IMO. I feel like it would give the phone a better design and a premium feel.. Negative
1080 is more than enough for such a small display and I like good battery life, Positive
Water Resistance, Very nice most likely a standard feature in up and coming phones, Positive
2GB of ram, with touchwiz this really needs to be 3GB, Negative
Battery - bigger could have been 3000 MAh though, positive
Processor, Snapdragon 805 clearly wasnt ready, the 801 technically is a very small bump from the 800, positive

I really could only see this being worth the money for users that are using phones from the S3 era. Not enough of a bump to justify a upgrade from last years models

Only thing that really surprised me was that they didn't implement a 64-bit processor.

I agree with MKBHD, the S5 is more like a S4s then a S5 in terms of the difference between the two.

Where exactly were they supposed to get this 64-bit processor from?

Going by the logic of your second line, wouldn't it then be the S3Ss?

The S5 does appear to be an all new design, leaving the S4 completely behind it (except for maybe the display, but nobody really thought we'd see a 2560x1400 display on a phone this early, did they?)

I just figured that since Samsung manufactured Apple's A7 64-bit chip that maybe the S5 would have one.

Well...they can't just steal that IP from Apple and use it like it's their own. :)

Apple designed the chip and then contracted Samsung to produce it. That's it.

I see, just assumed that maybe the S5 would have one. It's not a deal breaker for me at all.

Seems to be a deep misunderstanding about the Apple-Samsung relationship.

Only thing I am disappointed in is the size increase considering the screen isn't much bigger.
Specs are improved across the board, TouchWiz looks improved, they ditched the glossy plastic for soft touch and they added some cool features.

Probably to get the water resistance, they had to make it slightly larger

The 5 has a bigger screen but is it thinner width wise? Or does the longer screen make it look skinnier

The S5 is larger in every dimension.

S5:
5.59 x 2.85 x 0.32 inches
142 x 72.5 x 8.1
5.11 oz (145 g)

S4:
5.38 x 2.75 x 0.31 inches
136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm
4.59 oz (130 g)

I think rumors kill these phones. Everyone was hoping for a 2k display, 4gb ram, and a camera that blows every telescopes out of the water. But for real though, this is what was to be expected. Personally I won't be buying one, but its by no means a slouch. Htc is most likely going to make the new one look like last years and it will be praised as the best thing since sliced bread. Everyone hates the big players, which is why samsung gets more flack than htc will. Were at the point, the s805 isn't ready yet, so these specs are about as good as you'll get for the times, plus they added a larger battery as well which htc will probably stick with smaller battery and once again be one of the biggest complaints.

Yup.

Very disappointed. I'm fine with the specs as they should NOT foretell the performance of a damn phone. This isn't a Windows 98 PC here. However, clearly the phone STILL LAGS!
The design if disgustingly horrid. Its a taller S3/S4. Third year the phone looks pretty much identical.
Touchwiz also still looks like complete crap

It still lags??? Um it's not out yet ... And please don't tell me you were there because you would know these are test units for those invited... U don't like Samsung ...hey I got bored with em too for a year... But let's not jump the gun here .... Use the phone first .... At min wait for it to come out to the public for those reviews

Probably just taking them a little longer to steal that hardware design. Stealing hardware is tougher than stealing design/software which Samsung has already being convicted of. Assigning business ethics and integrity to Samsung is a mistake.

My disappointment isn't with the hardware but the horrible state of TouchWiz. They would gain alot imo if they allowed the actual removal/disabling of features not going to be used by the buyer instead of forcing them on everyone.

Better still why not have it running stock android. But wait this is a SAMSUNG phone not a NEXUS phone.
