Does the Mate 9 being sold on Amazon work with Verizon?

It should be able to pick up an LTE data signal in some areas with Verizon, but no band 13. And of course, you cannot make phone calls with it.

A number of countries use CDMA outside North America. Many are phasing it out though. A list of countries:

I don't understand this. I have a Google (Huawei) 6P and use Project Fi as a carrier (for now). Project Fi uses Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular towers. If Google can do it, why can't other phones/carriers? What's the difference? Hardware in the phone? Software? Something with the carrier?

CDMA phones generally have to be white listed by the carrier.. Though Verizon will allow any phone with LTE band 13 due to FCC rules for that band.

So, the only thing keeping Sprint and Verizon from using this phone is permission? Really? You'd think that all carriers would want all possible phones on their rolls. That's just more money in their pockets. Either the carriers are stupid or there's something more to this.

Verizon only wants certified phones on its network. They want to insure that it will work to their standards. They are more than happy to certify any phone for usage on their network...for a hefty fee of course.


Without certification, Verizon doesn't want it on its network because it could be detrimental to Verizon's network, or it could give a poor user experience
