Does the s8 plus scratches this easily ?

I have been using samsung phones since the note 3.........and have to say that i am really disappointed with the s8 plus........perhaps smartphone manufacturers are so busy making the phone beautiful that they forget about making them resistant for practical life.........this phone is so delicate that u cant use it as a daily driver........perhaps they should have made a screen protector that fits.........and if not........atleast the screen should be resistive to scratches.........i have paid so much money.....and all i have been doing is making compromises.......my screen is terribly scratched...........really really disappointed this time with samsung........there is not a place which doesnt gets scratched..........the front glass.....the back glass.....and even the side metal bands........get scratched without reason.......i mean what is the point of making such a phone..........has anyone been facing the same issue ??

I own a Galaxy S8Plus and iPhone 7 Plus in black. Both of my phones are in mint condition. I keep both phones in a case and have screen protectors on them. I never worry and both phones are daily drivers. Thanks.

I find that phones with no case and protector get scratched and marked. Phones with a case but no protector get screen scratches. Phones with both are okay.

Ok first off, that post is a nightmare to read. Not sure why 500 periods were necessary.

Im using a case only and have zero scratches. All about how you take care of it and I'm not that careful.

If you want to make sure you avoid scratches, get a lifeproof fre.

I agree with you completely, but I think the posters question, complaint is very valid. Why make phones so delicate and advertised for their great looks if it's impossible to keep without covering them up?

Just like anything you buy that's considered premium, you stand the chance of scratching it, damaging it etc. When you buy a new car you by it for the looks but you have to come to terms with the fact that it may not always look that good. At least with a phone, you can sell it or trade it in when it becomes too much. Or you can spend a few bucks to get it repaired.

As long as phones use glass you will never, under any circumstances, be able to guarantee it won't scratch. The best chance against it would be sapphire and if you think these phones are expensive now, just wait till you see what that will cost.

Again, there are options to protect the phone if you need it. There are screen protectors that do work and there are cases with protectors built in. Obviously you will sacrifice some of the premium feel of the phone by using them.

When I've used cases and no protectors, I've found that the glass gets fine scratches, though you may have to look close to see them. I suppose there's grit everywhere, and the case actually holds it against the glass.

Because it's not impossible at all. My S8+, like my previous phones, has no cracks or scratches, and I never use a case or a screen protector. If I used my phone in an industrial rather than office environment, then I'd use extra protection. But for office and home use, the phone should be fine if you're suitably careful with it.

Got that S8+ at launch and got only a speck case on it and the front and rear glass is still perfect.

I guess ya looking hard enough I can see what you mean. But expecting zero scratches from something that gets used like heck every day is unrealistic. It's not sapphire glass. So scratches are bound to happen.

got a defender with no screen protector. have a few small scratches on the screen, but I'm pretty hard on my phones. I upgrade every 6 months so I don't see the need for screen protectors.

It would be nice if the S8 shipped with a screen protector applied like others. My OP5 and G6 both came with a proper screen protector on.

Almost any device will show wear and tear of some sort, when unprotected. That's life. I have a dbrand skin on the back of my S8+, Ghost Armor on the front. It's the next best thing to it being naked. If it gets damaged with that level of protection, so be it.

I have appreciated this on-going discussion. After trying a $10 glass protector when I first got my phone, and dealing with the lack of touch sensitivity and dirt build up around the edges from the glue, I popped it off and purchased the YooTECH wet application film, based on reviews on this site. It seemed fine at first. Couldn't tell it was on the phone except for the rubbery feel of the screen. However after two months the edges starting lifting and I got tired of the feel of the screen. I came back into the forums and after reading everyone's comments on screen protectors decided to rip off the YooTECH and go bare. That was about a week ago and it is like I have an entirely different phone. I am now thankful I didn't go several years with some screen protector that hindered the enjoyment of my phone. No scratches yet and less finger prints visible as well. I have a Spigen Ultra Hybrid Crystal Clear case for daily use, and the Orchid Gray Ultra Slim Case from Samsung for "dress up". Thanks again for everyone's input about this.

I've had 7 Samsung phones with no scratches and no screen protectors. But with all these horror stories I'm moving to a genuine leather folio case by next week.

Be somewhat careful with those. I got the S-View case from the promo friday. I noticed that the top part moves around and there was small particles on my screen. That cover moving will cause those particles to scratch the screen. I got lucky and caught a gritty particle and took the case off before it did any damage.

Not looking for an S View. And I intend to spend some bucks in the hope I can obtain quality. Will consult Amazon reviews which have been pretty accurate in the past.
