Does updating software really free up space in Internal Storage?

I updated the software by accident last time because it kept showing up in the screen and the Internal Storage used to be 0.91 GB then. When it was finished, it decreased into 289 MB and I was happy because it's taking up so much space for no reason at all even when I have very few files and photos and everyday I use the Clean Master. But lately, it's increasing again... even when I have uninstalled the biggest apps. I deleted the very first one that I loved, but the device kept crashing and I couldn't text and it was just so new?? The free space that time was 20 GB I think. Since then I tried to maintain that or as close as I could to use it properly.

It's now 2 GB less, with the increasing Internal Storage! I tried just now updating again the software in case it cleans up the seemingly false data it accumulates but instead the problem gets worse. I don't know what to do to bring back its old size.

I just needed to know a) why is this happening? and b) what's wrong with the Internal Storage that it does this thing? and c) how can this be fixed?

Don't say transfer my stuff somewhere else because it surely won't reduce it significantly.

Yes, anything by cheetah mobile is fraught with danger! They are very careless with your data (they sell it!), and they self install apps and adware... Run away!

How can I get rid of it? I can't find it in the list of installed apps or anywhere at all, not even in Google Play. I use it through Settings>Storage> and it leads me to where it shows all the cached data, and I click Delete on the second: Unnecessary Data (Powered by CLEAN MASTER), it's been there since I bought it
