Does Verizon Galaxy Nexus work on GSM

Can I buy a Verizon Nexus without a contract (is it necesary to buy the contract immediately with the phone, because if it is, this wont work), root and unlock it and use internationally on GSM sim.

I don't believe so- the SIM slot that it has is only for Verizon's LTE band I thought...

You can purchase the phone for full price without a contract, but I don't know about the unlock.

As far as anyone can tell, there is no hidden GSM radio in the Verizon GNex.

You can however, buy an unlocked GSM GNex, it just won't get 4G LTE and only has 16GB of storage.
