Does VZW charge hotspot fee for UDP customer who use hotspot on current iPhones?

For example, on Android phones, if I try to turn on hotspot, it will tell me that I need to sign up and pay the monthly hotspot fee first.

I've not used iPhones in a long time. Someone told me that iPhones purchased from Verizon have no such pop-up messages when trying to turn on hotspot(even if you have UDP but don't subscribe to hotspot plan)

What about when I travel overseas and put a foreign prepaid SIM card in a Verizon iPhone? Will hotspot be possible? (which is also blocked when using Verizon iPhones, unless a Verizon SIM is inserted, which leads to $$$ int'l roaming fees)

Yes. You must pay for the hotspot fee if you want to use hotspot on an UDP for Verizon.

Thanks!

My other question was:

I don't know the exact answer but my guess is it will depend on the policy of the service provider you choose. The iPhone will check with the carrier if you are allowed to tether.

Right the iPhone will do whatever the carrier rules are.

on my Verizon Samsung Android phones, there's Verizon software that deliberately blocks hotspot... a pop-up window with Verizon's phone number, even has a Verizon logo.... even when there's no Verizon SIM card inside the phone.

I'm just wondering if there's such Verizon software inside iPhones.

Yes. IPhones do the same subscription check.
