Does WiFi Calling, VoLTE, and Band 12 work for T-Mobile out of the box on the Nexus 5X?

I know a lot of people are waiting on confirmation of these features. As soon as someone has one on T-Mobile can you confirm if these are working out of the box? I haven't seen any of these mentioned in review so far.

I know originally it was believed WiFi calling would work but just be turned off by default and that VoLTE/Band 12 was being worked on so would be nice to know where things stand at the moment.

I would love to know waiting on my 5x but would like to know a head of time. Thanks

As for band 12 -- I am curious to see if that is the case. WiFi calling I would think work since it is baked into Android M and T-Mobile already has worked on this before with Google. We shall see.

Yeah I am much more optimistic on WiFi calling but with some people getting their 5X's today I imagine we will know before the day is out in both cases. I am eager to finally make the move from Verizon to T-Mobile but both of these are critical features for me.

Just to follow up a user on XDA confirmed that when he first turned on his phone with a T-Mobile SIM it downloaded an update and both WiFi Calling and VoLTE work on T-Mobile. He didn't have band 12 in his area but definitely a good sign for sure.

After the update to the phone right when powered it up and got everything set up, it now has a menu item where you turn on Wi-Fi calling. I didn't do it because I don't need it or really use it. So I'm not sure if it's going to do anything with running battery life down or if it's OK to leave on all the time.

Question: If I'm on Wi-Fi and make a call then it's going to go through or if I'm on Wi-Fi about that on it doesn't go through? I used to call on Wi-Fi all the time without a problem. So does that mean I just switch to my carrier even though I was on Wi-Fi?

Latest word looks like WiFi calling works, VoLTE works, Band 12 not working. My guess is Google implemented VoLTE and pushed it out however they are still waiting on T-Mobile to certify it so they can turn on Band 12 support.

Has anyone seen Band 12 yet?

What about VoLTE on AT&T? I know it is active in my area (my ip6+ shows "LTE" during calling) but does this phone support it?

What does Band 12 do exactly?

Band 12 is the low frequency spectrum T-Mobile has been rolling out across the country. They call it Extended Range LTE as it penetrates better into buildings than their normal band 2 and 4 LTE.

Ah YES I've seen their commercials recently and they talk about the extended range right on there. Makes sense now! Thank you for clarifying. How do I find out if band 12 is in my area? Is there anything I can see on the phone exactly or is there another way?

Awesome thanks! Is there anything that I need to do on the phone itself to enable band 12? I know that there is a option for calling over Wi-Fi after this latest update, but it is switched off by default. Do I need to have that switched on to get band 12 or is that only needing to be turned on if I'm planning to make Wi-Fi calling? Thanks!

From what is being discussed on Reddit it looks like the 5X doesn't have band 12 support enabled yet but the fact that VoLTE is already onboard should mean it's just a matter of waiting on T-Mobile certification.
