Does your Froyo Dinc take too long to charge up?

It seems that the battery life is similar on 2.2 versus 2.1 but I noticed that the phone takes twice as long to charge up fully. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I noticed this too just the other day. Since my update on 9-3 the charging is way longer than before the update.

I still have not tried charging my battery up while it's in my phone but I will soon. I always charge a battery up in an external charger and when the one in my phone gets low I put the freshly charged one in. Much easier and never have to be tied down.

Plus that stupid issue of it not charging up all the way while it's in the phone. Says it's at 100% and it isn't.

my battery life still sucks after froyo. i have been reading people say that their battery life is better. mine isnt! and it takes forever to charge!

Mine isn't either. It's worse. I don't worry about it because I have the 3500 batteries and they last a long time. But before I could go even longer on them than I can now.

I noticed the longer charge time when I loaded SR 3, and that was the reasons I removed it at the time. Right now I'm running the stock Froyo zip file I loaded from XDA forums, so it's currently stock 2.2 with S-off. Even on this rom, the battery does seem to take longer to charge. However, I've also noticed better battery life out of the phone as well. The longer charge is annoying, but not enough to be a huge headache to me.

Takes mine forever too. Seems to use more battery to. Have to charge it at least twice a day with heavy usage and stock battery.

That's not too bad. With 2.1 with heavy use I had to literally keep mine on the charger throughout most of the day with the stock battery.

I don't see how you guys deal with this phone and the stock battery! lol Even HTC admitted that the phone isn't well with the stock battery which is why they released an official extended battery that suits the phone.

Put me down in the longer charge and faster drain category. After five mins of being off the charger my phone has dropped to 93% with no use. When I have the money I am going to invest in a bigger battery.

I am getting pretty much what I would expect from a powerful smartphone with current battery technology. I have a 1750 battery.

I charge at night while sleeping, so time is not much of an issue. Looking at the system monitor, it takes aprox 3 hours from 5% to full. Can't really tell if that is longer than before as I never paid attention to it.

I am getting about 14 - 15 hours with normal usage. If I use it more than normal, I have retractable data/charge cables on every computer I use, so I can just plugin where I am and start charging. I have a charger in my truck, but I have never used it.

The Battery % can be a bit misleading... as it gets lower, you get the feeling that your are running out, but even at 35% I still have 4+ hours of use left when used normally.

That sounds like the bump charging issue these phones have. Are you seeing this drop after taking the phone off of the charger after an overnight charge? When I do that, mine will drop to 93% in a matter of a few minutes. But if I catch the phone just shortly after it's reached 100%, it drains much slower through the 100%-90% range, and continues to discharge normally through the rest of its capacity.

EDIT: I have noticed this quick drop in battery using the stock 1300 maH and newer 2150 maH batteries. Using the 2150 makes the phone much more reliable without necessarily having to charge more than once a day.

My question is, has anyone noticed their batteries are lasting longer since the charge time changed?! Ever since I started messing with the newer kernels and radios from Froyo a month or more ago I have noticed longer battery life. And I believe it's from whatever change it has been to the charging and battery profiles. Just throwing that out there.

I can definitely say yes to your question. I see that the longer charge time exists, but after running froyo for about a week, it seems that battery life has improved as well. Speaking for myself, I can deal with the longer charge time, since it's overnight most of the time anyway, in exchange for a phone that's going to more easily last through the day.

Don't just invest in a bigger battery. Invest in the external charger too. It solves the bump charging issue. It will charge the battery up to a true 100%. The software on the phone stops it from charging up all the way. If you charge it in the external you will be charged all the way.

+1 on the external charger.

Yeah that is what happened today when I checked my phone this morning.

To Quazme: Even with the longer charge it seems my phone is actually draining faster through out the day. My friend got me hooked on this game called Homerun Battle 3d and it eats my battery like its candy. Phone hits 120ish degrees too which might play a part in faster drain?

To Logan: Yeah the external charger seems like the route I will take. Will have to get a second 3500 though so I don't have to rotate between 3500 and stock.

That's what I do. Two 3500mah. Works great. I mean if you're carrying around an extra 3500 and have a 3500 in your phone you're really never going to have to worry about battery life anymore. You can use as many widgets as you like or anything.

The external charger seems to charge them up pretty fast too. Since the 3500 last so long the spare will be charged long before you actually need to use it.

Yeah much longer to charge!

I had an hour drive to make on sunday, pluged the phone into the car charger, drove an hour, felt like the battery indicator didnt budge! Left at half charge, got there at half charge! Never had this problem before Froyo.....I was using the navigation so maybe that was part of the problem....plus one of my home charges now doesnt charge it at all. Maybe a coincidence, but the battery indicator just flashes from charging to not charging with the same charger that worked fine before Froyo...

PS wish I could get email notifications to these threads..I chose instant notification but never get one
