Does your Froyo Dinc take too long to charge up?

Hey logan, What brand external charger do you use? Is it a Seidio or just a generic one from ebay? I bought an HTC Touch Pro 2 1500mah battery and it works great, but I was sick of bump charging the original battery, let alone bumping 2 batteries. I'm usually fine with the stock battery to make it through the day with moderate use, but I'm a heavy user on the weekends so the extra battery comes in real handy. I've debated using a cheap ebay external charger, but I wanted to know from someone who already has one.

Heck yeah my battery takes way longer to charge now after the update and like others have stated it drains faster than it did before. I'm using the 2150 battery. It's really a pain and it still doesn't charge fully gotta turn phone off still.

I tested the charge/nav thing over the weekend. Over a 2 hour drive the charge did go up while using GPS Nav. It?s not as much of a charge as 2.1 would have gotten, but I started the trip at 50% and ended at 60%. I'm using a 1 amp VZW car charger.

Mine takes 2.5 hours to charge from dead while turned off, kind of a long time but i charge every night anyways.

Mine takes a long time to charge as well, but I get better battery life to go along with it. I had to do a factory reset after the update because my phone seemed really buggy and it was dieing FAST. After the reset, its even better than 2.1, and that's hard to top.

I'm seeing longer charge times as well. Not sure that it drains faster, but definitely takes longer to charge.

Make sure your phone is going to sleep. some apps are not fully 2.2 compatible. Astrid, for instance, was keeping mine from sleeping.

don't bother with task killers, they don't work with 2.2 check running applications in the menu, most that atk "show" aren't even running.

don't charge from a usb connection, phone NEVER SLEEPS when connected to a usb irregardless of the setting.

I ALSO have the car charging problem.

basically, from my posts on other forums, it seems that the INcredible still has the problem where it does not charge after reaching 100%.
ALSO, charging while in the car using GPS makes the battery heat up... and some have speculated that the heat is being sensed by the phone and is stopping the charging.

all i know is that it's totally unaceptible to LOSE charge while plugged in. that's the whole point of my android phone, is to be able to use it and rock it out, and not worry that during a long car trip my phone will actually go dead.

quick question for those of you that switch out batteries... doesn't that wear down on the battery cover? i have my 1500mah and 2 stock batteries, not that much switching, and i have noticed a little crack on the cover. what to do? does your battery covers have that?

Make sure you are using a 1amp car charger. Many generic car chargers are .5 amps and it's not enough. 1 amp will charge, though slowly, while using GPS Nav, Blue Tooth and making calls.

I believe all of the VZW chargers are 1amp.

As far as heat goes, if you are mounting it in the windshield... Try a vent mount. I have a windshield mount and it does get hot, but then again it always did because it's on the windshield. I've never had it shut down or turn off on me.

Hey logan, I've debated using a cheap ebay external charger, but I wanted to know from someone who already has one.

I have found that using the 1500 and 1300 batteries work for me. I charge one while using the other and can generally get 20+ hours out of either. Plenty enough for work. But on the weekends or if I am going to be out for awhile before heading to work, I use the 2600 battery.

Otherwise, I swap batteries right before I head to work.

I would like to know if the cheap ebay external chargers are as good as the Seidio as well. I have the 2600 battery off of ebay and the cheap charger.... the specs of the cheap charger are:

Brand: Yiboyuan
Input: AC100-240V~50/60Hz 0.15A
Output: DC 4.2V~350mA~+/-50mA
USB: 5.2Vd.c. 800mA

It has a USB port in the bottom.

thanks for the advice... i got this one...

Amazon.com: Scosche Dual USB Car Charger: Cell Phones & Service

it's dual, but on the box it says 1amp. so i'll not charge anything else while on gps. i will investigate a vent mount, i have the arkon mega grip windshield mount, i will look at buying the attachment for the vent.

all i know was that i was on the vzw charger and it still went from 90% to 64%... not sure what happened there. maybe the one i had wasn't 1amp.

but i'll try the same "test" on the scosche one.

I'm not sure about cheap ebay chargers. I mean it just depends on what it is I guess. I got this one off ebay. It's only 21 dollars and it's made by the same brand that makes my batteries. Works great. And not only can it charge your extra battery through the AC outlet. It can charge in the car via USB or on your computer.

I actually have not charged a battery while it's inside my phone in a very long time.

My phone takes significantly longer to charge on the verizon car and home chargers....I bought an external charger and 2 batteries on ebay for under $10 delivered, but I always forget where I leave my batteries, lol! this is a bit of pain....

I see some people mentioned that A full reset resolved thier issue, Has anyone tried this and it didnt reslove thier issue? I would hate to do the reset and it still takes along time to charge..

I did a full reset for a different reason but I still have the long charge time.

The only thing that would make it charge slowly is a low mah charger or the phone is not sleeping(or obviously under non-stop use like with gps or some games). I use the VZW standard charger(with 2nd usb port) in the car and even after a 4 hour drive, it doesn't loose a single point of battery strength using GPS(albeit it doesn't make much headway either with continuous gps use). Although when surfing or constant 'normal' call use, it will continue to charge at a decent positive rate.

Personally I think it charges pretty darn quick using a standard 1amp dedicated wall or car charger otherwise. Charging from a USB connection is worthless, its .5amp and the phone doesn't sleep while hooked up to it so it would take all day to charge it up.

Check to make sure your phone is sleeping.

I did a factory reset, and I really don't know if it improved to battery life, I think it has... But my bluetooth headset doesn't pair anymore:eek: I don't know if it's a 2.2 issue or the reset...

Well, here is an example....

My battery was at 9% and I plugged the DInc in using HTC charger that came with the phone. Oem 1300 battery. Plugged in at 1:55 am. Now 3:07am and battery to 59%. Now, is that deemed good or bad?
