Don’t mean to be negative but….

My old international, Exynos, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, G998B, is still holding its own...

Loved my BB curve!
I did also. Went from that to the storm and storm 2. I'm using blackberry hub for my mail now, $1a month, they had a good email app, email was their signature, they were known for email. Wish they would let me pay $12 a year instead of that $1 every month.
I had the curve, the bold , and the torch. I'd still have my bold had it not acted like the note 7 and was going to explode. They ended up replacing it 3 times before they just upgraded me to the torch. Lol
I go back to the Bold 9000 back in 2009. It was an email machine.

Lol yeah I'll have to get used to that. I'm so used to note10+ spen location. Even tho I I have the vrs terra guard spen case and when fold 3 is closed I have to use my left hand to slide cover over to get spen out so I'm sure I'll adjust just fine. I just like the other way better lol.
Lucky for me this is my first (Note) S22 Ultra. So I won't have to learn to look for the S Pen in a different place.

I have taken a vow to never bother with benchmarking since those mean absolutely nothing to me

S22 Ultra will be better than S21 Ultra in every way. Give it a few days to settle down IMO or may be an update and it should be fine.

it seems faster

Yup, mine also seems faster and smoother. So far with my minimal use I don't see any showstoppers but I'm going to wait till the weekend to send my old phone back just in case but so far so good. Battery is even working good unlike from what I've read. I was actually scared upgrading this time around but I'm not having any performance problems and I'm a performance freak that spent the coin on a RTX 2080Ti for my PC just to have the best gaming performance lol. That benchmark might not be optimized for the new phone yet because normal usage the S22U feels ever so slightly smoother and faster than my S21U. I also stopped using benchmarks on my PC years ago because nothing matters except the actual usage that you use your device with. I've had PCs that scored high in 3Dmark that performed lackluster in real world and vice-versa so I only care about real world use and testing anymore.

No phone needs to be replaced every 6 or 12 months. Its just whether or not one likes having the newest flagship. If not, then stick with whatever you have.
