Done with Google phones

Gotta love fastboot flash commands. I agree that reloading the OS would have probably fixed it.

Everyone knows that on google phones you need to change the wallpaper only on a full battery while plugged in.

Here's my opinion on this issue. We're free to Go back and forth
from iOS-iPhone to Android..Google phones aren't well rated

it's interesting that people freak out whenever a piece of technology fails. I mean, it's common place for it to happen. happens with every major tech brand in every sector. it sucks if your on the recieving end of a lemon, but it is what it is.

System UI failures? Sounds like someone got a rooted phone and then applied a bad theme (not wallpaper) to it.

Why on earth would you not call Google Support and have them overnight you a device? I mean Pixel 2 hasn't been out for a year so every device should still have a decent amount of factory warranty left.

Apple has stores everywhere and their support is great - that's what people say. It took me 4 visits for Apple to finally swap out my launch day iPhone 7 with about 5 days to spare before the warranty ran out. Don't think Apple will just cave in and give you a new device.

I had an issue with my original Pixel last year about this time. Google sent me a device overnight via FedEx.

Everyone's experience can vary with different device manufacturers.

I bet he didn't know about 2 yr warranty.. or bought it used from someone who rooted it and REALLY screwed it up.

Kudos to the member who posted this video n' No doubt the OP
of this topic manage to -Work it out on his way - By getting
an iPhone. Again was his choice,.Like those guys above
Said in one of their songs - Let it be.. :(

I think most are OK with his choice in getting an iPhone. What seems to be not be logical for many is getting rid of it through an ecoATM instead of getting it replaced by Google and either keeping it or selling it through Swappa or eBay
Anyway to each his own.

While I understand your point the OP did make the post himself (as in people weren't commenting in another thread and being off-topic.. he literally made this topic to discuss this) so we can't shame others for simply responding with their opinions.

The ecoATM may even come after repayment when the phone is disfunctional. Don't you have to claim phone works at those machines?

 Read out the quoted replies I disagree with those statements is
better respect his decision - However although I don't reply to
get Likes as a result I got some, so No everybody rate
my replies as off topic..Just my thoughts

My Pixel 2 somehow ended up with a System UI has stopped error that ends up with it not being able to boot past the Android Recovery screen. It gives me the option to try again or reset. Reset three times and within hours it's back to the same screen. Sold it at an ecoATM. Going back to iOS. Never been more disappointed in myself for buying such an expensive liability. Who knew that changing a phone wallpaper could brick a phone.
I went through a stupid problem with my iPhone. I couldn't allow another sign in attempt so that my sister could use it. Apparently, Apple still owns the phone and controls how many people can sign into a single iPhone. I was just trying iOS out and didn't like it so I decided to pass it on to my sibling. I didn't know that Apple could tell me who they wanted to sign into MY iPhone. You could exchange the pixel for another one but I was stuck with that iPhone since Apple declared that there was nothing wrong with it. Go back to Apple, you seem to love being controlled.

iCloud activation lock? Easy enough to resolve this - just sign in to the phone with your iCloud account and then go into settings and turn off Find my iPhone. Then do the reset again and ANY account can sign in to it...

It does seem to appear from reading these forums and others that the pixel 2 XL has more than it's share of problems..... much less reliable even than the pixel 2. I've been doing my research because I decided to pick up a 2 XL... but after researching I've decided to pass. LG really seems to have dropped the ball on this one.

I'm still considering a pixel 2, or maybe even an original pixel or pixel XL if I can find one new ;-)

What I WON'T be doing is paying a grand for a pixel 3 XL :O :-( :-[
Silly phone makers lol.

Thats true of any of the phone forums. They all have their share of problems.

Don't make the mistake of projecting problems reported here as an indication of the quality of a phone. People are far more likely to go searching online for a problem (and finding their way here) or complaining about a problem on a forum. They are looking for answers.

I always put it this way.. if an alien comes to Earth and decides to research is by going into a hospital, they'll immediately assume that everyone is hurt, sick, on the brink of death. It's called selection bias.

The 2XL is the more popular model, so there will be more owners, and more owners with problems. More problems, more problem posts. Go on any phone board here and there will be a disproportionate number of people with issues looking for help.

But there are a ton of 2XL owners who haven't had issues, and absolutely love the phone (like yours truly). I've opened phones from a bunch of different manufacturers, and the ones I've owned from Google (pixel and Nexus) have had, by a massive margin, fewer issues. Me and my family have owned a total of 8, and I have yet to have a major issue with them. Phones I've had from LG and Samsung, on the other hand, have been rather aggravating to deal with... So much so that I've gone all Pixel across the family lineup.

But I also won't make the mistake of assuming everyone's experience matches mine. People having issues are not making stuff up, and just because I haven't had a problem, doesn't mean those problems do not exist. No phone is 100% perfect, all will have a set of owners fed up with them and looking to go elsewhere. We have many former iPhone owners here because they were sick of dealing with them, and there are people over in imore who got sick of Android... It happens.
