Motorola RAZR ICS update delayed past Q2 launch schedule

Bad news for those of you who opted for one of Motorola?s super-skinny new Android-powered RAZR phones as your current mobile, as the Google-owned phone maker has announced its Android 4.0 updates for the Motorola RAZR and the newer RAZR MAXX have been delayed.

Android 4.0 upgrades for both RAZR variants were supposed to hit in Q2, which we?re just about to reach the end of without seeing any update notification joy. Here?s Motorola on the delay:

For those asking for information about the ICS upgrade for RAZR and RAZR MAXX, we have had a delay which means we?re unable to roll out in Q2 as planned. We?re working through the changes that need to be made to the software to ensure you get the best experience from all the new features ICS will bring. We will update you when we have further details on a new roll out.

The Soak Test is done... I did receive an email this morning that the soak test is official over with as of this morning. I don't know how long it will take for them to get the approval to officially begin the OTA, but it should not take too long.

+1

Was the largest group to ever be tested and it will be available very soon. Besides, you want them to get this right don't you?

This is what Motorola replied to me from a tweet I sent to them..

@paulvarts select DROID RAZR/RAZR MAXX owners will get the ICS upgrade per standard process Broader deployment will come soon

I have to agree while the wait sucks. I'd rather have a build that works perfectly. The battery life alone on this phone makes it worth the wait

I replied to them asking exactly what that means & still no answer.. So don't expect it anytime soon unless your part of the testing phase

i think "available" on moto's website means its ready to download online if it has not been pushed to your phone. when i had my droidx i remember waiting on the upgrade to gingerbread from froyo
and was checking motos page back then people were getting the update even though the site had it posted as "testing' . just sayin.......:)

~This coming straight from VZWsupport~

The update is not in the testing phase. Some users received the update today. It will be coming your way soon!^AB

They said rollout out would begin in Q2 2012. Rollout started. And it's going out in batches.

Not to say it's false or anything but this is for the Euro version of the Motorola Razr and Razr MAXX not the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX. So Europes version is probably delayed yes but stateside it is coming.
