Don't Buy Your Nexus 6 From Sprint!

That was your fault for not checking Sprints coverage before u bought the phone. It's 2015 it's no excuse.

Maps don't tell you building penetration though .....t-mobile shows great coverage where I am but my apartment is basically anti cellphone coverage lol . I get nothing with t-mobile , 2-3 bars with Verizon and AT&T and I don't remember with sprint. It I got ok coverage with 2G with them

I don't know if that is an entirely fair comment.

I used to have Sprint and I can tell you that my reception did not come close to matching their coverage maps. Same problem with all carriers; although the maps may show good coverage in a particular area, when you get down to the specific block, house, office, backyard, etc., you can find dead spots galore.

Yes I agree about the activation fee which is 32.00 , but that leaves 117.00 in charges. That pretty steep for only 13 days and at most maybe 8 phone calls which was only for a minute each . And about 1 meg of data usage.
That's harsh on the charges.

Unfortunately, you can't expect a refund on service that you have already used, which is based on days connected and not data under your plan's max. At least they pro-rated it. Though I don't get why 14 days of service would be $85 = $170 per month. You must have signed up for the 250GB plan :p

I still refuse to pay it. My credit was beyond bad anyway, so I didn't care if it got paid.
I suppose you don't pay off your cars, or bother with health insurance? Just because you've got crappy credit doesn't give you a pass on having some pride and showing responsibility.

Let the flames begin as we sail off-topic and discuss the welfare state. BTW, I'm a hard core democrat. That might surprise those of you on the right side of the ledger.

Sorry mods, I couldn't let this go......

Doesn't sprint also charge more then the device actually sells for as well? Or is it 649$ from sprint as well? I know at&t is 682$ plus tax.

Well that's a different story then bro that's your apartment lol. I stay in a 22 story apt in Chicago and I get LTE even in our laundry room lol. Vzw has good building penetration but I hate limits .

It's apps that can tell u real time coverage. Never trust carrier maps.

Just so you know, I paid cash ($5,000) for my car, have health insurance and pay all my bills. The deal with sprint was between me and them, and I felt they wronged me. Now go mind your own business @#%&*%!

Keep politics or anything non-android/phone related to other forums. Got it?

Been waiting to hear from you.....

Interesting I'm the #%^*#. You're the one that brought your credit rating into the forum.

I agree with your point regarding forum content and I apologized in my original post. And I repeat that apology. Feel free to PM me so we can take this where it belongs. Otherwise, you can post a reply. It will give you the "last word" because I will not continue here as it is, as you say, inappropriate.....

So you had and USED their phone for 13 days and you expect them to "allow" you to give it back "free of charge". Grow the hell up, if you cancel your health insurance you better believe they will send you a bill for the time they covered you. Pay the bill off IN FULL, and move along. Chalk it up to a learning experience.

If you saw " after a few days" you didn't like the coverage, why did you wait longer to cancel the service?

Who did you have cell phone service with before you bought the phone? I doubt you got the nexus 6 on sprint simply for the phone.

Hell I have the nexus 6 on sprint and my coverage is fine, I understand that I am not going to get LTE service EVERYWHERE the map says so, but hen again I guess I understand more about the way things work than you do.

What I'm complaining about is the excessive price gouging to cancel the service. By the way I Have Verizon for my work phone and I get 4G about 99 0/0 of the time.
150.00 dollars is too excessive to have the phone for 13 days! :-$

I don't disagree. One question:

I investigated getting it from Sprint to use on VZW. I planned on paying retail. They said I still needed to sign up for service to buy the phone, but I could cancel at any time and would only be responsible for my prorated usage; If I activated it for 2 weeks and cancelled, I'd owe half of the monthly service cost.

Did you by chance sign up on contract/subsidized phone?

Well, they did pay all that money for WiMax...

Yup a lot of poor business decisions from Sprint... They went with WiMax while everyone else went with LTE.... Even though WiMax killed battery faster and didn't penetrate buildings very well compared to LTE....

and then had to back track and swap it out for LTE anyway..... Add that with the Nextel iDen network that didn't work well with their CDMA network at the time............................................................................

They appear to be making the right decisions going forward though, at least in the Atlanta area. I have fast LTE everywhere I go and with unlimited data on my Nexus 6, I couldn't be happier with Sprint.

Your bill does see high for 13 days of service. I would assume the standard plan for a single line is $60 for unlimited everything. Even if you add in the activation fee and the first device payment of around $27 ($648/24 months) and the sales tax it seems high....

On another note, I recently closed my account with TMO and paid for my device. I thought I was in the clear and they sent me a final bill for $0.01. I laughed...Yes ONE CENT.

I thought about calling them and asking for a credit, but I really didn't want to risk credit peril if the credit was never applied, though it would be 'cool' to get a call from a collection agency over a ONE CENT BILL.

In the end, the automated system still had my credit card on file, so I made a final payment and waited for the penny to post.

I wish I knew more about credit card fees and charges. Is it possible for businesses to actually lose money when the charge is below a certain amount? LOL

Sorry, but I did not have this experience at all. I'm on Sprint and have an N6. Was a breeze to buy, no added charges or anything because I read the terms carefully. And called to double check when I got home.

Rule of thumb is that it's a 3% fee on the charge. Less for high volume businesses like Sprint. Sprint would end up with $0.0097. Probably get tacked in to there overall charge card costs unfortunately. They'd get what's comin' to them.....

Thanks for sharing your expertise. Regardless, it let me close the account with a clear conscious and I am sure it won't kill them, though it may have been better for them if they had just credited it off.
