Don't expect an update next month

One of my favorite pixels , the 2xl :(
My panda 2 XL 128 gb was handed over to my wife 2 years ago and she REFUSES to upgrade. I think she would drive that thing until it dies. She loves it more than she loves me. That I am sure about lol

Still original battery?

YEP. everything original like the day it came out of its box. I used it for 9 months before getting 3 xl. I am now on 4xl. Tried to get her to take my 3 xl and she refused. She gets attached. I asked if I could get her pixel 5 she said no lol. Maybe pixel 10 lol

Almost the same situation with my wife using my old 2 XL. I plan to upgrade her to the 4a around December. I looked into trade-in value in the Google Store -- I could get a whopping $56 credit!:p

Yeah, this is absolutely the first phone I've owned that I hit the 2yr mark and still felt like new... I don't want to give it up but I'm also not sure about using a smart phone that's no longer getting updates. Will we at least get security updates still or are ALL updates ending?

As I noted in the first post, and was mentioned in the article, no security update in November and a final update in December...

Gotcha. Yeah, I'd seen the "no updates" in several articles but wasn't sure if it included security updates. If that's the case then regretfully I'll have to move on from my 2XL that's treated me so well...

Updates have never been a big factor in how long I keep a phone......I usually keep phones way past their update periods. If you're careful about what apps you install and websites you visit you'll be fine. I've never gotten anything malicious on any of my phones.... but I have had an Android os version get to old to use anymore, too many things weren't compatible with it. Part of the update hype is just a way to keep people buying new phones. It would be cheaper to install an antivirus on your phone.

Besides between google play protect and Android's sandboxing it's a very secure system.

This is the first phone I've had that wasn't a complete turd by year 2 so I'm floating around in uncharted territory here. Lol. Usually I've had to get a different device before loss of updates is even a thought.

The phone doesn't suddenly become a virus magnet a month after the last security update. My Note 3 (7 years old - 5 years past the last update) is still secure. As long as my Pixel 2 battery is decent, and it's not cheaper to upgrade than to get the battery replaced, I'll stay with the 2, unless they come out with something I really want. (The 2 had Visual Core, 128GB internal and FPS. The 3, 4 and 5, as long as I have the Camera 4 app, have nothing I want.)

My Pixel 2 XL panda still kicking it ....... Kinda sad :( EOL coming for it . But I want 2 more updates instead of just 1 more update O:-)
