I want to assign a single click to the power button that turns the screen off, and a double click of the power button that actually lock the phone. I am having to lock/unlock too often. Basically just a way to turn off the screen on demand, and a different way to lock on demand.

Ideas?

Galaxy S10e. Android 12.

Will any other function, even an app button, just turn the screen off w/o locking?
No when you have biometric enabled, you could try extended lock but not exactly what your looking for

Double tap on screen to turn the screen off?

Hold power button to bring up option to lock?

The only thing I can think of for you would be Smart Lock. With Smart Lock you can keep the phone unlocked and lock it when you want based on certain conditions. Again, like mustang7757 points out it won't be exactly what you're asking for but may work the way you're looking for.

With Samsung's Smart Lock you can keep the phone unlocked when in a familiar place, connected to a familiar device, or when in your possession. Not sure how it knows the latter. Anyway, I believe within the Smart Lock features there is an option to add a button to the screen that will lock the phone with a tap even when it is being kept unlocked by whatever matrix you're using.

So let's say you're home and use the when connected to BT speaker as the unlock device. As long as you are connected to that speaker your phone will be unlocked until you activate the lock. I would have used the in your possession option but again I'm not sure how it knows it is in your possession. I don't think this option works with WiFi, which I can't understand, but does work with BT. You will still need to unlock your phone initially but then it will remain unlocked until you lock it or until the conditions are no longer met.

Here is more about it, how to enable it and what it does.

If one of the trusted devices were WiFi, it would be useful. Too bad they didn't include that :(

How do i use "bixby" to button-press lock?
-Open Settings use the search bar there to look up Routines. This will open or direct you to Modes and Routines.
-Press (+) to create a new routine.
-It kind of directs you through the options but Press the (+) Add what will trigger this routine. You might choose a time trigger if your schedule is pretty regular. I believe you mentioned that you didn't have WiFi, or maybe that was a different thread. Anyway, pick something out of the list that describes your situation best. There is also place, if you only want it to work at home let's say. Whatever you choose will likely have some nuance once you select it.
-You can also set up multiple triggers so at home with the WiFi connected between the hours of x and y.
-Then choose your Then. If you don't find what you're looking for you can again use the search feature. In this case it would be Lock screen and AOD, Keep your phone unlocked. For me there is a limit of 4 hours, so again not exactly what you asked for but better than nothing I guess.
-Add any other Thens you would like and save the profile. You'll have to unlock the phone once to start the event but after that the routine will run for the specified time.

Ok... I got a routine that keeps the phone unlocked if i am connected to my home wifi. 2 issues though:

1. I stopped the routine temporarily, and don't know how to start it back up
2. I don't have a way to emergency-lock the phone despite the routine...
