Double emails how can I make it stop!

So Here's the deal. I have the messages app on the home screen and the gmail app in the app drawer. The gmail app is better in terms of functionality but the mail app on the home screen has all my other mail accounts in it too. I'll get an email to my gmail, it'll pop up I'll read it close it and them bam get the same one in my mail app but its grayed out already because I read it before it came to my phone! How do I halt the madness?

Can you setup your other pop3 addresses to redirect to your gmail account? You can setup Gmail to reply under your other email addresses once you verify yourself. Pretty simply takes like 20 seconds an account. That would probably be your best bet, then you would also have push email from your other accounts.

you are going to get 2 emails because you set it up in 2 different apps. you can follow the suggestion above or delete from 1 of the apps. your choice
