Double Messages Received Issue

Hello,

I seem to be having an issue receiving duplicate text messages on my Droid X. A few obvious things to get out of the way:

- Its not a Handcent issue (not installed)

- Phone is rooted/deodexed. Currently running Froyo 2.2 with the FroyoDYNAMITE ROM.

- I'm not receiving duplicate notifications. When I first flashed the Dynamite ROM, that issue was occuring, but I have since turned off notifications and auto-push in the default app I don't use (I use the iPhone like one, so I disabled the notifications and pushes on the one with the smiley face icon, whatever you want to call that one).

- Issue started occuring about a month ago when I flashed the Dynamite ROM, was also included with double notifications issue. I fixed the notifications, but still get double texts.

- Doubles always appear at exactly the same time, not later/earlier.

- Phone is not sending double texts.

- There is no duplicate .apk packages per Root Explorer. I have one Mms.apk, one Messaging.apk, one MessagesWidget.apk. These are the only apk's I can find related to messaging, and there is one of each. There are no duplicate .apks, period.

- Titanium Backup IS showing multiple messaging apps, including Messages 2.2, Messaging 2.2, and Text Messaging 2.2. All 3 have different icons and sizes, which leads me to believe they are not duplicates but instead different applications. Again, Root Explorer is not showing any more .apks than those I listed above, and viewing hidden files is enabled.

Any ideas and/or help would be greatly appreciated, I've tried as much as I can think of and looked online, but haven't been able to find a solution that solves this issue just yet!

this has somehow just started happening for me as well. However, I have never rooted and am on 2.2

Goose try using root explorer to rename Mms.apk to Mms.bak. I had the same problem after loading the Gala X theme. Your duplicate file is the Mms.apk, you only need the Messaging.apk file.

Edit: I just checked my setup under RubiX, I only have Mms.apk in my system/apps folder, you might have to rename your Messaging.apk file Messaging.bak instead.

It could also be a problem with the person/people you are texting. It happens to me sometimes when i am texting my fiance. She uses a BB and it constantly is sending me doubles and triples of the same text message. It happens with other people sometimes as well, but not as much as with people and their black berrys, it is just something i have noticed over time.

Thanks, renaming that mms.apk to .bak fixed it! Wasn't a major issue, but definitely annoying.

My Droid X is having the same problem on multiple rom but not all of them (just the ones i like it seems)

is there any free solution to change the apk name cuz i tried to use root explorer to change it a few days ago and couldnt get it to work so i refunded and now if i download it again there wont be a refund option. I dont really wanna spend $3.xx on something ill only use for 1 purpose.
Thanks guys.

all so i have noticed the the double text come in at exactly the same time just like Goose stated but they the time stamp on one of them is about 5 hours off and sometimes the minutes dont match up either... Example: time stamp on an incoming text reads 3:33pm (correct time) the other says 10:33am (5hrs ealier) another message one of them didnt have a time stamp only a date????

i started getting double emails yesterday on my gmail account through the stock messaging client. I have never rooted and running all stock. I rebooted and it appears to have resolved it. Wish i knew why the phone always acts up out of nowhere
