Double tap to sleep

I have a HTC one m9 and I cant seem to get the "double tab to wake" feature to work. I can double tap to sleep but not to wake.
It all started with the 5.1 upgrade.
I've done a cache wipe, a battery reset, and even a factory reset.
I've checked all my setting and the double tap to wake/sleep is checked.
I have even done a g-sensor check and calibration.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you do a factory/hard reset? If you did, that breaks tap to wake. So does doing a manual update instead of installing the OTA.

Check again if you turn on the settings of wake/sleep

Only if you are rooted. Otherwise, you will have to wait on HTC/your carrier to push a fix.

Are you running a 3rd party launcher? I noticed when I installed Nova recently my M9 started having trouble with that feature. Strangely enough weird stuttering too. Most people install Nova to speed up their device, but I think it might slow mine down.

I use Nova and have it set to turn off & lock the screen with double-tap by setting double-tap to start the app "Screen Off and Lock" (by Katecca). This eliminates any bugs caused by the latest system update.
