Anybody get DT to work with a Fascinate. I've been beating my head against the wall for a few hours. I Can get the software to detect my phone, but it will only let me sync photos and video. It has a little dialog box that says "want to enable music mode? Put your phone in MTP mode." but it doesnt say how.

For reference, doubletwist requests the phone be put into mass storage mode in the usb settings, after that you "mount" the drive and the phone is recognized in DT. Other than getting the phone recognized, I havent had any luck. I've scoured the interwebs (including doubletwist's forums, which fail at letting me register, or this post would be there.)

Any help is appreciated.

I didn't have any problems with it. I've never used it before now, so +thx for you getting the app known to me lol.

Go to Settings > USB Settings > USB mode >
make sure Mass storage is selected and not Media sync...

I've gotten that far. DT won't even recognize the phone if it isn't in mass storage mode.

Once you plug your phone into the USP port, pull down the status bar on the home screen and from there you can select the option "select to copy files to/from your computer." Thats all it takes...

Exhibit A: my DT library full of music.

Exhibit B: there being no option (tab) to sync any music to the device.

The phone is currently in mass storage mode, with the SD card "mounted." Still, no dice.

***Keep in mind if you click on where it says music under the device, you're simply greeted with an empty looking library.

It seems like I would need to have some smart playlists set up in iTunes for iSyncr to work. I'm not really a playlist kind of guy, so I'm not really sold. Also, it's not a free app, or I'd just grab it.

No, it mimics the entire list on your left panel, including Music. If you buy the paid version, and you don't like it, you have 24-hours to return for a full refund.

About 30 seconds after I posted that I just went and bought the app. I forget about the 24 hour refund rule.

iSyncr is syncing right now. DT can suck it. Thanks for the tip Cory. Much appreciated.

Cory, which music player are you using? The stock one isn't bad, but if there's something better out there (especially concerning podcasts), then I'd like to jump on it.

Lmao!

I'm not aware of/haven't tried any combination podcast/music players. For music, I currently use the stock music player because of it's Equalizer capabilities. In the past I've used MixZing, because of it's ability to download missing album art, and specify which folders I want include. As you may have noticed, the stock player shows every audio file on your SD card, including ringtones, with no way to exclude them.

I've heard great things about Meridian Media Player, from a few members, but haven't been able to try it out yet.

For Podcasts, I use Podkast, and prefer it over Doggcatcher, which I paid for but do not use. Doggcather is definitely a top choice amongst a lot of people, so it shouldn't be overlooked.

A lot of people ask about the ability to listen to Podcasts at faster speed. The only player offerring this right now is Astro Player Beta, but other than it's ability to do that, it's not a very good Podcatcher in my opinion.

Finally, here are some polls I started:

Favorite Podcatcher App.

Favorite iTunes Synching App.

And one that Brett started on Favorite music players Favorite Music Player.

Sorry for the information overload, but hopefully that helps.

As soon as iSyncr WiFi is available for the Mac I'm there...

One of AC's writers, Kyle Gibb, is a fan of TuneSync. I tried it and found iSyncr easier and faster than WiFi sync, but to each their own. Based on his and others recommendations, you might give it a whirl.

I've been thinking about this actually and came to the realization that WiFi sync isn't a deal breaker. I used to use my iPod Touch as my main music player and had to sync all of the time to get my Podcasts to sync up so it would show which ones were played etc...I only get new music once in a while. So syncing isn't as big of a deal as it used to be since I'm now using Google listen to grab podcasts.

So my plan was originally to sync up my phone for podcasts over wifi every morning...but I don't need it anymore because Listen takes care of that.

I'll check out Tunesync. Thanks for the suggestion!

For Podcasts I'm very happy with BeyondPod. I had purchased Doggcatcher on a previous Android phone but I like BeyondPod better because it's just seems to have a cleaner interface, etc. And the icon isn't always in the notification bar. BeyondPod allows for scheduling of downloads, AND it can can be set up to sync GoogleReader feeds.
